Air Bag behind the A-pillars
Hey Im new to the forum and just got a 2005 Mazda 3 hatchback. I know there has been some talk about there being an air bag behind the A-pillars in the car. Im wanting to take the pillars out and add 2 speakers to the them. Does anyone know if there actually is air bags in the 05 mazda3.

I don't think the 05 has 6 airbags- it may say on a vehicle invoice. Jjust look and see if there's an "SRS" or "airbag" icon stamped in the plastic, that's how I know where the bags are on my car.
Or you can pop off the plastic and have a look, just don't put a screwdriver in there too far (just in case).
So you just adding tweeters or something? I figured a gauge pod would be the easier way to add something like that on the a-pillar since there's no depth. Or get the door mounted tweeter plastic from an upper trim level - they mount right behind the power mirror mount.
Or did you mean b-pillar behind the seats?

Yea theres the "SRS Airbag" stamp at the top on the A-pillars. Ill be competing in audio competitions and really need to place the tweeters in the A-pillars for sound quality, but I might just have to build off the pillar with fiberglass.
I've seen pictures of the factory tweeter plastic and it doesnt look like very much space at all to mount a tweeter that Im looking at using, Id have to build out from that plastic trim piece also.
