Auto Mazda 3 shifting
I love cars, but I don't all about the engine and stuff so please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I was just wondering if is was ok when using the manuel mode on the auto mazda 3 to let the rpms get up to something like 7200 and shifting. I have only done this once but I wanted to make sure this was safe so I don't do anything to my car.

easy killa lol honestly i wouldnt let the rpms get that high. i have a manual car and i shift at about 5500-6000 when i race my friends. i would never let it get about 6500.

No that's not okay. First off there's a redline there for a reason.... you're not supposed to push the engine past that. Second the 3 makes very little additional power above ~6,000 rpms so pushing beyond that doesn't really give you anything else.

Yes icspots i know that is it not a good idea or good for the car to do this all the time, but my question was by the one time that I did this did I created damage or something. I am not planning on doing this again. The problem with the manual mode in the mazda 3 is that shifting out of 1st takes a second after you do it. So i let the car get to abut 6000 and bumped it down to 2nd and it let it go for a second and got that high. All the other gears are a bit quicker than 1st. icspots thanks for the help i am sure you know more about cars than I do so if you or any body else has suggestions please let me know.
