Brake Noise ???

Ive got just under 7000 miles on my 3S and EVERY morning when I back out of my garage my brakes squeal. The part that bothers me is that it only happens right away in the morning and when I leave work. No other time. Anybody have any idea WTF is causing it? I have a 5 year old Civic that was bought new and it has never done anything like this.

Mine has a little squeek to it too while backing out of my driveway in the mornings...only does it for a second and then it doesnt do it any more durring the day. Usually one does it the first time i apply the brakes after its been sitting overnight. I think is has something to do with the car having 4 wheel disc brakes and not the greatest brake pads in the world. If it really bothers you, try replacing the brake pads or take it to the dealer and complain. Doesnt bother me enough to mess with it personally.

I called the dealer I bought it from and the service guy gave me some line of its all part of the new more enviroment friendly compound used in the pads that all cars will have soon. Its just that Mazda and Volkswagon are way ahead of everyone else - What freakin' ever --- ---- Like its not bad enough with the excessive brake dust on the rears in particular. I love the car but this little stuff still drives me nuts!!!!!!! (brake dust, squeal, no plastic foot rest, and the cartridge oil filter thing sucks - I cant belive it costs twice as much for that little filter than a fram filter for my other cars) Oh well................

Brake squeel

I had the same issue that the brakes would squeel in the morning for the first 100m and in the evening after work for the first 100m. I went to the dealership and told them about it. They replaced the front brake pads, resurfaced the rotors and changed the caliper supports with a redesigned one. I bought my Mazda3 in January 2004, so it's one of the first ones. It seemed to me that he dealer exactly new what the issue was, i.e known issue to Mazda. You can check your front caliper supports, if they have a funny cylinder shaped form on top then your car has the newer caliper supports if not I would point that out to your dealer. Just compare yours with one in the showroom.

Brake Squeal Noise from rear 04-003/04 Mazda 3

found a service bulletin at www.alldata.com/tsb/Mazda re rear brake squeaking. Rear brake pad on mounting support may not fit straight due to burrs. Therefore rear brake pad partially contacts the disc plate causing squeaking. This is on 2004 15" wheels with vins lower than JM1 BK****41131014 and 2004 16/17" wheels with vins lower than JM1 BK****41130969

Hope this helps

Mine squeak in reverse also. VERY loud. I have been starting to notice that they make a bit of a grinding sound all the time now. I am disappointed in the 3 brake system all around.

I think its more of an issue with the front brakes than the rear...at least it is in my 3. If im rolling along at about 10 MPH or less then touch the brakes i get the moan, squeek, whatever you want to call it....if i pull the e-brake(rear brakes) i get no noise.

Angry

My guess is that some of you guys get the same as I do: it really sounds like the brake fluid pump runs hard and makes the squeek noise.

From past experience with a Civic with leaking brake cylinder, when the brake pressure is too low, the brake pump kicks in. It is especially true when going reverse and breaking hard.

As for my Mazda 3, it's worst when it's -20 C outside, and for the first few stop signs when I leave home for work.

Next time I go to the dealer, I'll ask about it. I wanna make sure the brake pump won't die on me.
