cold air intake recall?

So have another question pertaining the cold air intake. Went to the dealer today because of my sunroof, another issue. While I was there i decided to ask about the intake. The mechanic told me they dont work on the 3. Also that they have recalled them? I dont think that this is accurate as they still sell intakes. any input would be helpfull. thank you.

sounds like he was annoyed with your question, or about to take lunch. never heard of any 3 recalls. never heard of a conflict with any cai's. infact, on a recent insurance claim, a mazda dealer replaced my shitty hundred dollar ebay intake with a sweet mazdaspeed one worth 500 bucks! get a new mechanic.

So you didn't have any issue with the ebay intake? Mine hasn't ran right for a month... What else could be the problem?

a cai is nothing but pipes and a filter. you mostly pay for the name, and a bit of r&d, but a quality filter is definately key. not enought details to diagnose your problem.....could be many things. clogged filter, maf sensor, build up or debris in your intake (the kind seafoam helps reduce)

I have actually figured out the problem. The computer can only read upto a certain amount of air flow. It won't help to reset the ecu either. I took a round ruber piece and placed it right in front of the maf sensor so it decreases the airflow at that point. It works. My buddy just got a cai for his 3 and we looked at the piping and his is smaller.
