There's been at least a half-dozen blown (2.0L) 3's in my city alone, that I'm aware of. Probably many more than that though. All of them because of oil changes performed by someone other than the dealer. Kralinator's book (updated now with the right filter, but many places still have the old, incorrect one) recommended the wrong filter and it would shoot off from the pressure, causing major oil loss, and a dead engine.

(2.0L uses a regular filter. 2.3L = cartridge filter)

What I never realized is that dealer pricing for oil changes is the same as any lube shop that does a decent job. The only downfall is making the appointment, and it taking about 30 min's longer. I went to the dealership for my last oil change, they cleaned her up, washed the inside windows/dash and sent me off with a full tank of gas all for the same price as a normal synthetic oil change. (yup, they topped off my fuel)

I love my dealership...
