Debadging my hatch

Hello All!

I have been toying around with the idea of debadging my Mazda 3, and i just have a few questions.

1. Does the Mazda symbol badge on the back come right off, is it stuck on with adhesive or is it held in by posts?

2. How hard is it to debadge it?

I'd like to do this soon depending on difficulty...

Thanks in advance!

You Tube? ;D

Never had the heart to fully debadge a car. I took a look at mine though to see...
It looks like it is just held on with adhesive. You could probably pry it off if this is the case but I would be concerned about peeling either the clearcoat off or even worse, the paint...

Let us know the result!
If you don't mind posting some pics either, I would like to see what it looks like. ;D

Good luck!

I pulled the 2.3 badges off and there is no holes behind them! I have a MZ3 hatch.

You can pull on the badge a little, if it moves it's going to be on pins. If it doesn't move it's adhesive - in which case wait for a warm day and slowly peel them off.
I removed the 3's and 2.3 off mine - the mazda symbol and text on the hatch were on pins, so they remain in place.

The Flying M and the "Mazda3" on the trunk are held by pins, everything else is held by adhesive. i removed the 2.3 and the side door moldings on my 3 and they were held by adhesive

I believe this is correct about the pins... If you do take any badges off, get some strong fishing line and take a piece a couple feet long, wrap it around your hands and "saw" it back and forth through the adhesive tape that holds it on. Once the emblem is off, there will be foam tape left on the car, I just use my finger to rub the foam and make the foam ball up and come off the car. It is tough on your hands, but looks great and there is now way of damaging the paint this way.

that saw method may be needed on older tape, or if the parts will be damaged by bending them to pull the tape off (old metal trim). But mine peeled right off with no residue to speak of left on the paint.

I'm just very **** about my cars and wouldn't take the chance of wrecking the emblems. I Debadged my brand new Toyota Tundra too and did that same thing. Worked perfect and now I have all the emblems for the new owner if they want them .
