Having Problems Shifting Into Reverse

I have a 2004 Mazda 3 with about 40,XXX km's.

I just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed a problem with shifting into reverse. This is a problem that has just started to happen.

Could it be that my MT fluid is low or could there be a problem with my 5/R synchro?

Hard to tell. I'd probably check the fluid level and put some Neo in there if needed. Even if your gear oil isn't low, changing it out may make a nice difference. It definately did in my FC.

^ Does it have this problem when the car is cold? Or does it also have this problem after the gearbox has warmed up? Or both?

I have had this issue as well.....it happens quite randomly. I have found that just letting the clutch out and pushing it back in allows it to shift. This can't be normal and I am having it checked on my next service visit.

My daughter had the same problem with her 2003 Protege and took it in to the dealer. Nothing abnormal was found. Maybe changing the transmission oil will help.
Regards.

I had a 92 protege and now a 04 mazda 3, both had the same "problem". I am guessing its normal and like the others are saying if you let the clutch go a little bit, it goes into reverse fine.

This hapens to me often.
I just hold in the clutch, shift to first and then into reverse. Works every time.
I've had this 'problem' with every m/t I've ever owned.

^ I think this problem is because Reverse doesn't have a Syncro.
