Exclamation Help! Broken down, won't start

Yes another no start thread...
Car is a 2003 mazda3 automatic

So I am getting a free near mint condition Mazda 3 but it's currently broke down on the side of the road with the well known starter wire issue.

So tomorrow will be a rescue mission for me. If I get the car going, it's mine!!

Now this is where I need your guys help....

The starter and wires was replaced about a year ago by Mazda. Since then, the starter wire still has to be wiggled just right to get her to start. Tonight, my brother in law could not get it to start by the wiggle method.

If need be, can I jump 12 volts from the battery to the starter terminal in hopes that this will signal the starter to turn the engine over?

Once I get it running and home, I will run a new wire and connector.

Also what's the best way to prevent the issue? Heat shrink and dielectric grease the connector? I've read lots of threads about this issue but have not found much on a permanent fix, just guys making repeated trips to Mazda.

Any help much appreciated as I will be working on the side of the road tomorrow.

So it's running again. Now to fix the issue so it doesn't keep doing this.
