HID kits and Fog Light Bulb#

Hey everyone,

I will be picking up my new (used) Mazda3 Sport Hatchback this week! I am pretty excited and will immediately be upgrading the headlights with an HID conversion as well as some very Yellow fog light bulbs... Questions being;

1) What kit has worked best for those in the past? I'm looking for a 6K light, not too excessively blue, however with a blue hue to it.
2) What is the bulb# for the foglights in an '07 Hatch model, since I know it was the first year they changed the housing for the foglights?

Any and all info will be much appreciated!

Does anyone ever visit this place? I'm surprised by the lack of feedback

I have an 08.5 hatchback. If I'm not mistaking, the fog light number is H11. I went to the sylvania website to check the fitment guide and it says either 9006 or H11. Your best bet is to pull the bulb already there and check the number of that bulb.

One more question for all who may view this.. When upgrading the headlight bulb/ballast etc. Do most people use a 35W system or a 55W?

I bought the slim ballast 35w for my Protege5. The stock headlights are 35w, so there will never be any kind of overheating issue with the HIDs, since they too are 35w. Plenty of people buy 55w kits and have had no problems, but I guess I'm a little paranoid.
The lighting output is a million times better with the 35w kit.

Welcome to the club, BTW, Blake.

Thanks for the welcome, truly appreciated!

I've read else-where on other searches that with the '07 Mazda 3 the stock lighting for both the fogs and H7 bulbs were 55w? I'm very hesitant to purchase anything without knowing it's really the right fit. Don't want to mess up my new car! First day driving it we had a ridiculous amount of rain, but it is great!

Like I said, I'm just a lowly P5 driver. haha! If you cant find it in your owners manual, then maybe check out mazdas247dotcom. There is a ton more traffic there and I'm SURE someone has been in the same boat as you are now. Also, if you're in Cali, check out MOCCdotcom. It's like a big family over there. We set up meets all the time...install days, cars n coffee, etc.

Blake you're right, the stock bulbs are 55w. I bought a 35w HID kit and in two days put my original back in, enough said. It could've been the kit I bought, but I think I rest my case when I say that my OEM fogs were brighter than the HIDs.
