I need wheel and tire help for my m3!!!

I have a 2005 Mazda3 i with the stock 15" rims (not the steel rims with caps) and I believe the bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3, but I'm not sure.
Right now on ebay I'm bidding on new 17" rims with a bolt pattern of 5 x 114.3 and they have an offset of +48 mm. Will these fit perfectly or is there going to be a problem with the offset? What is the stock offset?
Also, how wide of tires can a 3 take without rubbing?

I aslo have mazda 3 i found this website that when you enter your make and model it tells you all about the sizes of wheels your car uses.... They also sell alloy wheels as well give them a call

i have on my stock 17" rims (lug pattern is 5x114.3) all-season BFG Traction T/A's with dimensions 215/55/17. Mazda refused to inspect my car just because of the tire size, so i had to take it elsewhere, but she still passed inspection and there are no problems with rubbing in the wheel well or anything. I wouldn't go any bigger than 215mm unless your going to be putting them on 18" rims.
