Just bought a Speed3 and DAAAAMN!!!
Hello, I am a Mazda newb, and here is my story...
On a random whim, my fiance and I went out to either refinance my 08 legacy or trade it in on something else to get a lower payment (I had crappy credit when I got the subie)... Well this little gem was sitting on a dealer lot so we stopped to take a look...
Found an 08 Speed3 in Black Metallic with 28k miles on the odo
Car booked at $20k (dealer asking...)
Got the car for $17.9k. Passed leakdown, compression testing, etc...
Now here is the good part.... I popped the hood and guess what ...
It already has the nice AEM CAI, a really nice BOV (didn't catch make), and a psycho exhaust system. I think it is straight piped... yay! Got the owner's history too.
I am going to get a muffler tho. It is quite loud... hee hee... What brand should I go for? Other than that this thing is faaaaaaast... It kicks the S#@! out of my 91 Talon TSI... But doesn't corner like my tricked 93 M powered 525i.
But nontheless, I am in love. This is actually the new car for my computer store too. I have owned the thing for only 3 hours now and I have taken out 2 hondas, a focus gt, and something else that ended up behind me before I could make it out... lol... I have also sped read just about everything about the car and geesh we got lucky!
I am so happy
...anyways I will read the forums, but any quick suggestions on how to make this thing more evil, things to look for, etc, would be greatly appreciated! I have also built many different types of turbo/muscle cars so I hope to be of service as well!
Anyway, off to some sweet dreams!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site. Feels kind of funny welcoming anyone as I am a newbie to this site myself. I have yet to get a welcome from anyone and would hate for you to go "welcome-less" as well! I own a mazda 6 as well and the 6 crew I belong to would be embarassed not to welcome the new guys properly, lets teach these 3 guys a thing or two about the car community! (as they, hopefully, help us along our mod journey) LOL.

Cars always seem fast till you drive something else. I came out of a previous STS-V so the mazdaspeed 3 seems surprisingly slow considering its HP and weight. Dont test drive a used BMW 335i you will be ready to trade that Mazda.
But seriously the mazda 3 is a great car you will really enjoy it. Post pics
