Kumho tires again or something else?
Hi,
I recently have been hearing a lot of highway noise coming from the rear passenger side. I tried getting my wheels balanced but the joker at Monro said my wheel was bent, and told me I needed to get 4 new tires (and a new pair of wheels), recommending Firestone Potenzas.
I wanted a second opinion about the wheel, so I took it to my Mazda dealer. They didn't even check the wheel, but they said I should get 4 new tires (and of course a bunch of other 'necessary preventative maintenance' like 60K service, A/C service, fuel service). They recommended Dunlop tires.
I can understanding the need for new tires, my current tires are Kumho Ecsta 17". They performed great up until now, but the tread is getting low and wearing a lot on the outside, and they only lasted about 25,000 miles. I did get my rotations done as scheduled.
So I don't know if I should invest in 4 more Kumhos if I'm only going to get 25K out of them, or if I should look into another tire. I live in New England so I would prefer an all-season tire.

I had a set of Yokohama Avid all-seasons that I've had for about 50k. They're now just starting to get really low on tread, but they lasted quite a while. The only thing is they weren't the best in the snow. They did okay in a little bit of snow, but when you get a big snowstorm watch out.
