- Before you start the engine, hold the CD and AM/FM buttons.
- Start the engine (keep holding the CD and AM/FM buttons).
- After a few seconds, you should see the display read "DIS ON" (driver information system)
- Stop the engine.
- Start the engine again.
- Touch the SET button to see the trip computer.
- Touch the TIME button to see the time.

theres a sticky on this somewhere.
but pretty much, this will unlock:
-km's remaining
-average speed
-mpg
-average mpg

my fuel light comes on when i have 35 kms remaining on the tank... ish

My light comes on when I have ~40 miles left on the tank. I've driven it 'til it shows there's 9 miles left on the tank but I don't want to go any lower to see how accurate that is.

That number comes from what it expects your milage to be based on your average MPG.

Meaning you should get 9 or more driving like a granpa, or much less if you hammer it through every turn.

I usually average the light at about 20 miles left but I have driven plenty of miles past a zero reading. I think it starts working off the reserve fuel at zero.

hahaha wow that's kinda scary, the lowest i've ever gone on mine is about 3m... isn't it a bit risky to the engine to be draining your fuel? i've heard that small deposits in your fuel tank can ruin your filter... i've never dared experiment, hehehe i did use those fuel injector cleaners on my older '97 Toyota T-100 every now and then... but not sure about my '06 Mazda3.
