Smile Mazda 3 hatch aftermarket stereo?

I'm thinking about replacing my factory stereo with a aftermarket one into my "04" Mazda3 Hatchback. Mainly for XM and iPod connection.

Does anyone have any pics of stereo's they've installed? Is this a good idea or bad?

I like the way the console looks now. Will putting in an aftermarket stereo look weird?

I've Google for info/pics/etc. but came up with nada.

Any info would appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're going single DIN then there's a kit made by metra to mount it in. If you're going double DIN then as far as I know there isn't a kit yet, and you'll have to customize another kit.

An aftermarket stereo will probably the the easiest way to get satellite and ipod connectivity, and most aftermarket stereos are going to have better amps in them than the OEM.

There are other ways to get satellite/ipods connected to the HU, so just bear in mind that it's possible if you actually want to keep the HU.

Thanks Icspots for the info.

Since I posted this, I have found a few pics of aftermarket installs but they don't look all that great. I'm thinking about checking out the NEO Prolink for my ipod connection. Supposely it works through the HU and is pretty seamless.

Okay how can I add XM to my Mazda3 without using the Aux in for it?
I would love to have a built in XM solution using the HU that came with the 3.
