Mazda 3 won't start
#62
Can anyone locate this service bulletin for me? The link posted no longer works. I am having this problem with my Mazda 3 not starting intermittently. It always happens after I've been running errands. I get back into my car to go home and it won't turn over. All lights, radio, air, etc. come on OK. Car just won't turn over. Usually if I wait 30-60 minutes, it will eventually start. I've had it to my mechanic 3 times and problem still persists.

Have the same issue as what you all describing here
Hello,
I just bought a used Mazda 3 2004, 5-speed with 150,000 miles on.
The car won't start at first, I have to try about 8 times in order for it to start.
Once it starts, it works just fine. No check engine light on or anything like that.
Does anyone know why?

i am having the same issue with my 2010 mazda3 2.5. did you ever resolve yours?

Hello, I just decided to fix it (three days ago). To be honest, I was so scared it would cost lots of money. I ended up paying $125 to my local mechanic. It was a very simple fix according to him. A broken piece in the steering wheel was the issue, I cant recall the name of it. The part itself was only $60 plus $55 in labor.

2010 Mazda3 Intermittent Problem Starting
Anyone know if the 2004-2008 starter wire problem also applies to the 2010 model?
Thanks!

Mazda 3 Starters
I have a 2008 Mazda 3isport, with about 105K miles. After five years, the original starter died. Had it replaced with an after market starter. That lasted about six months. Had that replaced with a Mazda starter. That lasted 18 months. Why do these starters keep failing?

FWIW (and it ain't worth much), your first starter did OK. 105k miles seems OK to me. The second starter sounds like it was poorly made. If your second starter went 105k miles, that'd be about the lifetime of your Mazda3.

for an automatic... it should start in neutral or park - try neutral, if that works it's the neutral safety switch.
Also, if you hold the key, see if the security light on the dash flashes - if so there's a problem with the car reading the key RFID. In which case you can try a second key for your car.

I have an 07 Mazda 3 and it won't start either. I have to use my 900 amp jump starter to get it going. I know it's not the battery it runs everything else fine and it starts up another vehicle I own just fine. Sometimes the car will start on its own after some coaxing and feathering the throttle. Once I get it to start it runs fine though. Any ideas about what the problem is?

Cannot find bulletin can someone help. Link is dead
I had the same problem with my 2006 Mazda 3. There is a service bulletin for it listed somewhere on this forum but I can't find it right now. It is an intermittent problem right? If you let it sit for a while then try it again it starts and runs lke there was never a problem right? I printed the bulletin, and tried to show the Mazda service guys near me (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) and they told me that it wasn't a known problem and the bulletin wasn't Canadian. The service guys in Brampton (where I work) were very quick to recognise the problem and fix me up. Great guys!
The small wire at the the starter has corroded out, and needs to be replaced. I will have another look around here and find the service bulletin for you.
FOUND IT!!

does anyone have a copy of http://www.finishlineperformance.com...7-08-1960a.pdf?[/url] This link no longer works and I am desperate to get a copy to fix my Mazda 3 that won't start and it isn't the battery. It was cranking fine and all day wouldnl't turn over and then BAM it worked. Mechanic doesn't want to replace the fuel pump as it is clear it is working and apparently this bulletin explains how to fix this. HELP.
It is an intermittent problem right/ If you let it sit for a while then try it again it starts and runs like there was never a problem. Apparently this bulletin explains the issue and how to fix.

Bulletin Found
I may be mistaken but I believe I have found the bulletin. My 08 5 speed has been having these problems for the past two years. I've changed two starters and i'm still having the issue hopefully this will finally fix the issue.
