Mazda 3 won't start
#76
The bulletin is failing to download... kindly help am stuck my car is not starting.
I had the same problem with my 2006 Mazda 3. There is a service bulletin for it listed somewhere on this forum but I can't find it right now. It is an intermittent problem right? If you let it sit for a while then try it again it starts and runs lke there was never a problem right? I printed the bulletin, and tried to show the Mazda service guys near me (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) and they told me that it wasn't a known problem and the bulletin wasn't Canadian. The service guys in Brampton (where I work) were very quick to recognise the problem and fix me up. Great guys!
The small wire at the the starter has corroded out, and needs to be replaced. I will have another look around here and find the service bulletin for you.

Hi all,
Thanks for this! i have that annoying issue with not wanting to turn over. It can drive you mad. I will fix that piece of wiring quickly and hope that problem is solved then.
Had to fix the ignition switch cylinder today as wel. I could not turn the key at all! Took the cylinder to a lock repair shop and they removed a small piece of metal inside that blocked the lock sometimes. So that works fine again.

Now i would like to search futher in the system but i would really like to have a wiring diagram of the car. Does anyone have that for me? It's a Mazda 3 2.0 year 2005 with manual transmission. Google has a lot of small pictures but not readable or behind a password.

Thanks
[QUOTE=Arixsin;412329]I had this same problem and paid to get the starter wire fixed. That turned out not to be the problem. Our problem was the neutral safety switch. If we pushed the shifter hard towards the front of the car, it would start no problem. It just wasn't always catching the switch when put in park.
Just turned it back in off lease for a 2010 HB GT Liquid Silver. I "forgot" to mention the problem to them. Oops![/
Thanks for this mate, saved in the middle of nowhere, I just pushed the shifter as you said and it worked.

Does it start in N ?
On automatics ...parking doesnt engage 100% so shfting to N gets it started...

I have a 2016 Mazda3 with similar problems. The first time I got a jump. It's happened at least once a month ever since. I've come up with a workaround that, so far, works for me.
1. I click the lock button on my remote
2. If that doesn't work I click the unlock button then lock again.
3.if that doesn't work I press the lock button on the door handle.
In my case I suspect it's an electrical short somewhere, but it's completely inconsistent.

Mazda problem
If this fixes my problem, I'll send you a gift card for a case of your favorite beer!
Here's where I'm at. After a few days of wildly intermittent starts, I figured something was up. Next stop, local auto shop. Of course now it starts every time for the shop. I'm. sitting at home kinda annoyed. So I start JFGI. Within a few search results I find this post. And thankfully the pdf download was still active!
Status: sent email to auto shop w/ pdf attachment; awaiting assessment of where they are at with the problem.

Mazda won’t start either
I also have a 2006 Mazda 3 and I've been having the exact same problem. It's like it starts when it wants to and other times it just won't turn over. All the lights and the radio come on but it just won't start. The guys at the dealership told me that there's nothing they can do because every time I bring it in (2 times already) it starts !!!! Thank-you so much for posting the service bulletin. I'm bringing my car in tomorrow and I printed a copy of the bulletin to give to them so that they can fix it...can't believe that they weren't aware of this? Only problem, my warranty expired a few weeks ago. They should honour it since they weren't able to figure it out sooner. Thanks again )

I am having the a similar/possibly the same problem, so I thought I would bump this to see if anyone has come up with any new solutions. I came across this blog post which pretty much sums up my experience. My issue only comes up intermittently, and has only ever happened in the extreme cold, and only started happening last year (my Mazda 3 is a 2011). Unfortunately, as it is so cold, it's hard to take time to poke around and diagnose it. When it happens, the car won't turn over or click, and I get the flashing security light. On two occasions (once last year, and again yesterday), I have called to have my car towed, and by the time the tow truck could come, my car started on it's own.
I am likely going to try a main relay since it's a cheap solution to try, but also interested to know if anyone has come across other solutions yet.

You getta change the wires as it suggested by other people. Print the pdf here and take it to a Mazda dealer. It's the only solution to the problem.
