Mazda Accessories

Good Evening Club Members.

It is a pleasure for me to be here as a new member and vendor. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Bob, and I am the Parts Manager at Tustin Mazda. Tustin Mazda is a stand alone Franchise Mazda dealership in the city of Tustin, California. We are one of the largest Mazda dealerships in California and the recipient of Mazda’s “President Award”.

Recently, we developed a new website to offer factory Mazda and MAZDASPEED accessories online at discounted prices…and what better place to tell people about our site than here among Mazda enthusiasts. You can find us at www.ocmazdaspeed.com or via email at parts@ocmazda.com.

ocmazdaspeed.com features Factory Mazda and MAZDASPEED Accessories for all Mazda models back to model year 2003. Once there, you will find that ocmazdaspeed.com is easy to navigate, offers aggressive pricing and doesn’t overcharge for shipping. Our goal is not to be the cheapest, anyone can make that promise. We want to offer aggressive pricing and great service, just like we do every day in our dealership.

This is somewhat new territory for us, so we welcome your feedback regarding our site. And of course, we are here to help you in any way we can. Call on us with any questions or support you might need, and we will do our best to assist.

Please visit us and let us know what you think, and thank you for allowing us to participate here in the club. It is our pleasure.

Cheers,
Bob

A couple things I noticed after taking a look at your site:

* Selecting electrical parts for a 2006 Mazda3 4-door returned a NULL VBscript error for a while (I tried it 3 or 4 times, and it did it ever time. 5 minutes later I tried it again and it worked). Unfortunately, I didn't copy the error message before it seemed to clear itself up.
* A number of the pictures for 2006 Mazda-3 4-door Interior parts are wrong. The interior cargo mat picture seems to be from a 5-door.
* What's the difference between a P/N: BN8F-V0-730F and a P/N: BN8F-V0-880F-02? From looking at your website, about $8 and that seems to be it.
* Having separate part entries for painted items is a bit annoying when scrolling through the item lists. If you could have one entry with a paint color drop-down I'd recommend it.
* I understand that you're using the stock Mazda catalog photos, but there are a number of places that you could go above and beyond. For example, the MX-5 Mazdaspeed Carbon Fiber shift **** in automatic; the stock picture is actually of the manual ****. This is a pet peeve of mine, as every online parts dealer uses the same stock photos. If you really want to set yourself apart post what the parts actually look like. It'll show people you actually know the product instead of just being a middleman between the customer and your supplier.
* Shipping. I really like the shipping quote system. It always ticks me off when I have to go through the whole checkout system to see how much it's going to cost to ship something. Your shipping prices are AWFUL though. Just as a test I thought I'd see how much it would cost to ship a license plate frame to zip code 20874 and it came to over $10. Weight = 5 lbs? What about a bottle of touch-up paint? $8.59 to ship. Maybe it's just because I'm looking at small items, but this seems excessive.
* In the middle of taking a look at the site, it went down. I got the following error for a while whenever I searched for parts, but it seems to have cleared itself up. Looks like an SQL problem:
Select distinct a.* from tblaccessories a, tblpartsmodel b, tblmodellist c where a.Active = 1 and a.ID = b.IDPart and b.IDModel = c.ID and a.PartCategory = 'Interior' and c.Model = 'MAZDA 3 - 4 Door' and c.Year = '2006' order by PartCategory, PartName Limit 200
Overall, the design looks good though. I'd suggest you talk to your hosting provider about the website errors, there definitely seem to be some teething problems with the new system

Thank you Andrew for the great feedback. The site is relativley new and there are so many parts on it, that many times we don't catch something until users bring it to our attention. So I do appreciate the feedback. Here are some answers to your questions.

1. Audio/Electrical problem should now be fixed.
2. Pix have been a heck of a challenge. We started with Mazda's pix and have been updating where we can. unfortunately Mazda does not have pix for all the parts and duplicates some of them. For example, the only pic for the 06 cargo mat is the one for a hatch. Whenever I find a better pic I grap it. Slow process.
3. bn8f-v0-730f is the front ash tray. I changed the description and changed the pic. Unfortunately no pic at this time.
4. Yeah I wanted the drop down box too, but could not get it this time. Maybe in version "2.0" I hope.
5. Good feedback. I'll continue updating pix when I can get my hands on them. We are also in the middle of quality checking the descriptions. I am through about 200 parts of 1600. Slowly but surely.
6. I too hate the shipping calculators. They are always wrong and usually it costs us more than what we actually charge. I always use UPS for tracking purposes. I just went to UPS.com and did a quick quote to 20874 for 1 pound. Thier quote is $8.41. We combine individual parts when possible. The calculator combines up to 10 pounds so the frame and the paint would go together at about $10.00.
7. The site probably went down while we were fixing the audio/electrical timeout issue. Should be good to go now.

Anyway - Excellent feedback and we will keep plugging away and tweaking it as we go.

Thank you!

How do you install this?

BLOCK HEATER
Engine Block Heater For 2.0L Engine. Keeps your engine block warm in cold weather for quicker starts, less wear-and-tear, and longer battery life. Plugs into standard 110-volt household outlet.

I might be interested if it's not too hard .. I'll do anything to speed up the engine warm up time without wasting half of my gas tank. It sucks freezing your butt off the first 15 minutes until the heat kicks in.

Also have a question on this item:

IPOD ADAPTER
Taking your iPod along for the ride just became a lot easier. The iPod adapter intergrates your iPod to your Mazda with crystal clear sound and built in battery charger. Works with all 30-pin, dock connector equipped iPods. Compatible with all iPods containing 30 pin dock connector. Switching box part number TD13-79-CFZ Required when auxilary console input and iPod Integration Module or Sirius are installed

Does this allow you to switch songs on your iPod using the factory head unit, or do you still have to scroll through with the iPod. If I can avoid the little scroller, I'll definately buy one of these off of you as well, cuz I can't count the number of times I almost got in an accident trying to mess with my damn iPod!!

Thanks for the time, great lookin site by the way!!

Hi KrayzieFox,

I did some research regarding the block heater and actually found that some of the block heater part numbers have been discontinued. I have updated the website, so you may want to check it out. As far as installation, I have seen them before and they appear to be an easy install. I asked our techs, unfortunately we don't sell many in Southern California, and none of the guys have installed them before. I'll keep digging but little info right now.

Regarding the iPod, you scroll with your radio controls and the controls on your steering wheel. Eyes on the road!

The ipod adapter allows you to control the ipod through the HU controls, and actually disables all of the ipod controls. If you just listen on random all the time then there isn't any problem, however if you're looking for a specific song then you're a little screwed as you don't have any display of the song info on the ipod screen, or on the HU LCD.

If you have the '07 and want to keep the ACI (auxillary console input, a.k.a. the 3.5mm jack in the armrest) then you'll also need the switchbox.

Well I have a Protege5 so I take it that's not gonna work with my head unit then is it? I just saw there was one listed in the Protege5 audio/electrical section and it was the first time I seen one. Figured I would ask, but I guess it's just in the wrong spot then huh?

Krazie,
I have the application chart from Mazda, and it will absolutley work with 2001 -2003 Protege(5). Actually, the way your Protege radio comes out, its an easier install than the newer cars. Your Radio (unless it is the kenwood in the Mazdaspeed), has the same input port in the back of the radio as the newer models. This unit plugs right in. The radio recognizes it as an external component. So when you press the cd button, your display on the radio will say EX 1: Press the button again and it will go back to CD. When connected, the controls on your iPod unit will be disabled and the Mazda logo will display on the iPod screen. From there, you operate the iPod from your stereo controls. The manual explains how you can change through playlists, artists etc from your head unit. The only downside is that the Mazda stereo does not support text display. So while the song is playing, you can not look at the radio or the iPod and read the name of the artist or song being played. Again the radio will display EX 1: and a counter. The iPod screen will show the Mazda Logo. Finally, the additional swithing box is only needed for the 2007 models that have an auxilary port from the factory. Right now, I think it is only the 2007 Mazda 3 that has that factory Auxilary port in the arm rest. Because that port uses the input on the back of the stereo, the switching box acts as a splitter so both an ipod unit and the auxilary port can be installed at the same time. Again this only applies to the 07 Mazda 3, so you don't have to worry about that. Our contact number is on the website, so you can call me Monday and I'll be happy to give you more info. Signing off for the evening. Have a great night!

OCmazda... I'm very interested in the Mazdaspeed mufflers for the 2.3L Mazda6 models. Can you verify for a FACT that they will fit the Mazdaspeed6 exhaust cutouts. Also what would your best price be shipped to 35124?

Thanks
Matty P
