New Mazda 3s owner
Hey everyone I will be picking up my Mazda 3 later this week and I was looking around but I couldn't find what i'm looking for so I thought I would ask. Does the in dash 6disc cd player play MP3 cd's?
In no way is this a deal breaker for me, it's just one more feature I would like to have besides the Ipod jack (I don't even own a Ipod or a MP3 player)

J is likely right. You need the actual 'mp3' option to play it. You do have the jack though, in the center conole, to plug a player into. I didn't get that in my '06, #$*(&#!
Is this your first Mazda?
(My only tips...go easy on the engine when breaking it in, and if you live where's there's snow, be ready to get snow tires (if you have the Eagle RSA's.)

Actually I currently own 2002 Mazda 626! Great car but I want something a little more sporty. The Mazda 3 is an awesome car.
I'm shocked that a CD player made in 2007 can't read a MP3 disc.
Oh well I guess I will need to buy an MP3 player for the stupid jack thingy.

Or just change out the stock deck with one that can play mp3 cds. Whichever is cheaper I guess.
I know most aftermarket decks have better sound quality. When I removed the protege stock sterio, and put in an Alpine deck, it made a big difference.

Normally I would just change out the deck but the Mazda 3 dash layout is so nice I wouldn't want to disturb that with a after market head unit.
Plus I guess a decent MP3 player will be cheaper than a new headunit.

Again, are you talking about an actual MP3 player, or a CD player that plays ripped
or downloaded MP3 files on a CD?
Because if that's all you need, I don't see why the CD player won't play them...mine does and it's a stock HU 2003 Protege, and my wife's car does also.

Okay, I see the confusion now. How about this. Tonight, I'll shove a disc with mp3 files into the HU and let you know what happens. If my '06 M3 will play them, than the '07 should too.
You can also just test that out at the dealer. I did - brought a bunch of different types of CD's and performed a test during my test drive.
I'll let you know tonight.

Yes you see the confusion!!! That's the million dollar question does the CD player play a CD with MP3 files on it.
I'm curious to find out what happens when you pop that CD in.
