Odd Sound only when first accelerating...
Hey everyone,
This is my first time on the forum! This looked like a great place to check and see if anyone might know what is going on with my Mazda3. I have the 2008 Touring S.
Here is the situation. There is a very odd sound that happens right after I start driving the car. I can let the idle move the car and there is no sound. The sound only happens once, and only when I first start accelerating. I can accelerate for a bit, but then it happens sometime between/during 1st and 2nd gear. It sounds like something is caught, and slips into place (It sounds like a rubbing/squeak/scrape). It's kind of hard to explain. There is a vibration/rubbing feeling that I can feel as well for the moment that I hear the sound.
I can almost always trigger the sound if I first reverse the car to back out of a parking space (I haven't heard the sound in reverse), and then place it into drive. However, if the car sits long enough I will get the sound even if I don't go in reverse (although it is less intense of a sound/feeling).
Any thoughts on what could be causing this? It doesn't sound good...
Thanks!
Lee
