Oil Leak???
Just wondering how common oil leaks are with the Mazda 3 GT 2.3 Ltr hatchback?
The reason I ask is as I was driving home from work today, my oil light flashed. I pulled over immediatly and checked the dip stick only to find it was bone dry. I threw 4 quarts of oil in it which filled it up, drove home and checked it again - still full thank god (around 6 Km after refilling). There are no signs of an oil leak on my driveway and when I checked the oil a month and a half ago it was at just bellow full
Im extremly concerned as this has already happened once in the past due to a faulty oil change. The lube shop pinched the seal on the oil filter and over the course of only god know how long, the oil leaked out. I discovered it a week later when the oil light flashed. I got a new engine out of that deal but I'm pretty sure it was run dry for 3 or 4 days before the oil light came on. The cyliders were scored, rings and valves pretty much toast - no warning signs, no rough sounding engine, no odd idoling, and no smoke out of thew tail pipe - it ran fine.
With this happening AGAIN, I'm concerned it has been run dry. and may have toasted the engine. Im due for an oil change right now (around 20 Km over due)
and really dont want to have to shell out $12,500 for a new engine.
Has anyone experienced this porblem before?

Took it in to Mazda today and as it turns out I'm not leaking oil. They cant find a leak anywhere. The engine seems to be burning it for some reason. They arent sure why so I need to go back in a month so they can inspect the oil level. They have also requested the documents from the ofther dealership that replaced the block so they can try and narrow down the cause of the problem. What a hastle this is turning into....
