question about my first maintenance

i'm still pretty new with my first vehicle, 2007 mazda 3 gs
and now it's time for its first maintenance.
i called to schedule an appointment at the mazda dealership and they told me it would cost around $50
however some of my friends told me i can get the same work done at canadian tire or other autoshops only for about $30

i thought it would be better to get the first maintenance done at mazda, but since i'm just a student and doesnt have much money. so which way do u guyz think would be better for me?

thx a bunch

I would say check your warranty. Sometimes dealerships like to put stipulations in there so you have to bring it to them for maintenance.
