toyo tire ride disturbance
Well, got one possible issue and wanted to see if anyone else is having these issues.
I find that these tires seem to feel out of round! I am going to deal with this after the holiday weekend. I am mentioning this to my dealer.
The tire in question is the Toyo A05 205 55 16

welcome to my nitemare rick!!! I have a 2005, 3s my came with those tires, and let me tell you, it took many trips to the dealership, belletire and various other tire dealers to find out that i was **** out of luck! your warrenty paper work tells you to rotate your tires at 6,500 miles or so. I had the dealership rotate them at 7,200 miles and thats when I noticed a loud hollowing noise. Went back to the dealership and they said that these tires are known to hollow because their a soft performance tire, and I should contact Toyo Tires and take up the issue with them. So I went down to Belle Tire Store and the guys told me my car was slightly out of alignment, which could have worn the tires, they were cupped and feathered. So we called Toyo Tire right their at Belle Tire, and Tony at Toyo told me that these tires needed to be rotated @ 3,000 miles due to their being a performance tire. It would have been nice to know that when I bought the car, so don't always believe what your manual tells you. . So after suffering for 13,000 miles I replaced them with Michelin Pilots A/S only to have them for 10,000 miles BECAUSE we could not get them to ride smooth, My dealership told me that they were out of round all 4 of them! Belle Tire called Michelin and I got new full replacement of Michelin Energy MVX Plus, ($170.00ea.)
wow, that never happens! so for the first 200 miles they were great, but now the vibration is back at 55rpm again! I've learned so much about tires, like out of rounds never heard of that, but if you balance them, the air pressure is correct( and right at 32psi, no more no less) the alignment is good then all that is left really is a tire that does not roll round. and tires have a production date on them if they have been sitting around the warehouse for too long thats what causes them them to warp. thats probably whats wrong with them as well. so when I go back for rotation We will I'm sure go round and round and round, because thats my luck with tires on my ride. and i will never again buy MICHELINS!!!!!!!! SO GOOD LUCK, I HOPE ALL WORKS OUT BETTER FOR YOU! Merry Christmas.

I really question the toyos I have never really liked them when it comes to overall balance and life.
How did the MXVs perform? I know Michelin has the new Primacy MXVs. How has everyone dealt with the performance of their tires? I am going to see the dealer on the 28th. I would love for them to change them and call it a day, then working with a crap tire and trying to cure the problem.
Is this a typical issue with these cars and when switching to real brand tires Michelin and Bridgestone also? I have always gotten great customer service from Michelin and Bridgestone.....looks like Toyos lines are always busy. OH yeha Kumhos are crap. Use them if you are going to burn them on the track.
I have friend in the tire business so he kinda has my back in dealing with the dealer. He also has the Hunter Road force balancer. You should have seen the wheel weights on the car, what a shame.
okay suzoom, I have to add this because I was not sure. Your last sentence ....... "and i will never again" next line "buy MICHELINS!!!!!"
This is why I want to know how you MXVs were.

They told me to drive a bit more to relieve the flat spot. I pumped them with a bit more pressure and have logged about 550 miles. So far it has become true and has balanced out. I have noticed these new breed of tires will actually perform better in terms of treadwear with a bit more pressure. So far so good, but I will get a different brand when these wear out.
cheers!
I have been away from my pc, at a friends house sitting and he has lazy computer not even worth getting on the net. Be back soon next week

well thats great you got them to balance out. A word of advice, rotate, rotate, rotate!!! they will cup & feather!, which WILL CAUSE the worst hollowing you ever heard! really! Toyo asked if I rotated them @ 3,000 miles. I rotated them much later, owners manual tell us to rotate @ 6,500 or so. Hope this helps keep your Toyos riding smooth & quiet! :

Suzoom you are right this piece of crap tire needs to be rotated to keep them from feathering. (3,000miles). Its what make them lousy tire like Dunflops. I have had Michelins and Bridgestones and run them to 15,000 without rotation and have just wee bits of feathering but nothing as bad as I have seen on Toyos and Dunflops. I do my own rotations and hand install and torque my wheels. Just imagine when people take them in every 3,000 and bang bang with the imapct gun. But I wonder with these CAFE requirements that force them to make tires this way....ie lighter tire construction weight, but poor structural integrity after 2/32nd wear. This is the result to make a car pass the requirements and screw the customer after 5,000 or more miles. Just plain bull(garabge) politics to put a flashlight up your butt and tell you its sunlight and enjoy the tan.
I have worked with these crap tires before and have inflated them to higher pressures. It seem to hold them down. I had to buy the crap Toyos for an Acura when no other manufacturer besides Michlein had a monoploy on them in size. Once was enough and one did in fact feather edge. Shop new my car, me and how I maintain them. Called toyo and really laid down the facts….they exchanged the tire. This was well documented.
I will monitor these Toyos though.
HEY MAZDA MEMBERS:FRIEND DON’T LET FRIEND RIDE TOYOS! (Its my mantra and I am sticking to it)

Did these crappy Toyos come on all model years? I've got a 2008 3, which I've had since November. I've got a little over 4000 miles on the car so far. Should I rotate my tires? I've got Toyo "Proxes." Are these the infamous ones everyone speaks so highly of??
