Transmission Issue
Hi Everyone,
About a month ago my car's H/C censor has been sitting closer to the H then directly in the middle, but i didnt think anything of it, i though maybe that it was just hotter out and the engine was getting warmer. I live in natick/framingham Mass. So today it has been staying about 4 notches from the H (about 80-85 % of the way to H). It's about 75 degrees outside. I have been driving the car a lot today so i figured it was just the heat combined with use.
So about one hour ago, i get in my car (after being off for about 5 minutes) and turn it on as normal. i put the car into reverse and hit the gas, and as it started picking up speed backwards the transmission rumbled and the AT light went on and the check engine light went on on the dashboard, and the car stopped accelerating backwards. i put it in park and shut it off. Then I turned it back on, put it in drive and went forward without an issue but my check engine light stayed on. I got a chance to try and reverse up a stretch so i put the car in reverse and tried going back, and it went. When i got home, the check engine light was still on, but the AT light has not came once since an hour ago, i tried going backwards and forwards and the car seemed to be fine.
I am concerned that i may have done something to my transmission. I have a 2008 mazda3 i touring with 39,960 miles on it. i have to go to the dealer on thursday to get my oil changed, so i will have them look at it then if the problem does not get any worse. I am a student who lives at school, so my car only gets used a few times at week, So i hope i will be fine until thursday. Ironically, my birthday is this week...so i hope it doesnt turn into a Happy birthday to me i need a new transmission. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on? I've only brought it to the dealership for service, and have had all my mile marker services done.
Thanks for your help,
-Anthony
