Trying to understand WHY I can't ever find custom tail lights etc. for a 2007 3 hatch

Ok, so here's the deal. I have an '07 3 hatch. I'm getting tired of the stock tail lights so I wanna change them. EVERYTIME I look for custom tail lights I ALWAYS only get ones that're listed as fitting ONLY 2003-2006, NEVER any for 2007. Is there REALLY a difference in the sizes between say '06 and '07? Or will it fit anyway? Does the same apply for headlight casings as well?

Thanks guys.

I know its your car, but aftermarket tails just aren't a good idea, they're mostly rice and usually low quality and you'll prob have condensation build up in no time.

Sadly, the condensation in my tail lights have already started (*frustrated*) so they need to be changed anyways. If I ordered them 1) they wouldn't be from CHINA where I KNOW the quality is inferior to American or Canadian outlets, and 2) there ARE a few models which aren't TOO rice-y (I know what you're talking about, though)...

http://www.protuninglab.com/lighting...a-mazda-3.html

I found this website not too long ago, Faxi. The tail lights claim to be for Mazda 3's 04-08. I assume they will work but maybe it would be best to contact these peeps if they know what their products fit. I hope this helps!

Thanks, Para. Sadly these only seem to address people who have a 3 sedan...which obv won't fit my hatch...everytime I look for them I usually can only find these kinds for a sedan...

That does sound like a dilemma, I will post up any findings of the hatch tail lights. Do you know if the speed 3 tail lights match the hatch?

It's probably just a case where the retailer (or manufacturer) began producing that light in 2006 and just never updated the "what will fit" date.

To be clear headlights and tail lights are interchangeable for all '04-'09 hatchbacks. Technically they're also cross-compatible to the MS3 as well, however I believe that there is a slight difference in the brackets on the speed3 headlight housing. It still works, you just end up having an extra mount that isn't used..... IIRC that is.

Also the same is true of the sedan headlights/tailights. '04-'09 they're interchangeable.

Most of the aftermarket housings available are only for the sedan. It sort of makes sense since there are more sedan models than hatchback models so the manufacturers get more bang for the buck in a design. There are only a handful of aftermarket tails for the hatchback.

Help

I have a 2007 Mazda3 Hatchback, and have been scouring the internet to find any information regarding LED tail lights for my car, as my stock ones have melted...

(I've seen this melting happen on quite a few MZ3 Hatchbacks, yet Mazda customer service refused to offer any out of warranty assistance. (Not very surprised...))

If the melting is such a common problem, then who would in their right mind want to replace them with stock tail lights, very likely to do the same thing?

As far as I can find, LED replacements don't exist.

In my search I have learned about some models that have these LED tail lights by default from Mazda, such as:

the Mazda SP23, and the Mazdaspeed3. I had no idea that the SP23 even existed.

Any way, the questions are simple. Are the LED tail lights from these similar models compatible, or are they annoyingly different?

Secondly, where can I buy some,
and thirdly, has any one actually done this yet and can verify that it works?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (sorry for slightly ranting, but in my defense, this is my first post on a forum, ever.) lol

Chris.

Hmmm. Don't know that I've heard of the stock tail lights melting. Sorry to hear about that. Did you have higher wattage lamps in the housings?

There are definitely LED tail lights for the hatchback, just as noted above while there are a number of designs for the sedan there aren't many for the hatchback.

LED tails for the hatchback initially became available on the 2005 sp23... a special edition model for the year. From 2006 on they were standard on all GT trim, though they weren't available on the sedan until 2007.

Chris.
The OEM LED tails for the 1st gen (i.e. your 2007 model) are compatible with all '04-09 hatchbacks. Note the sedan and hatchback tail lights aren't interchangeable. If your reverse housings are intact then you only need the outer section with the LEDs as the inner section with the reverse lights is identical.

There's also at least one aftermarket LED housing for the hatchback... possibly more.

For where to purchase them... for the aftermarkets just google it and I'm sure you'll find a number of results. For the OEMs you can probably find some on ebay and such, or you can purchase them from a dealer, or a dealer based online reseller like onlinemazdaparts.
