Under-car light laws
#2
I just read through like the entire California Vehicle Code about lights, and basically it said that you can't have flashing lights like an emergency vehicle... I didn't see anything about undercar steady on lights....but still if someone else has any good resources that would be helpful...

illegal for street use. You can have them, but cant be have them on while driving in the street. My friend got a warning. thats what the office said. But I could be wrong, cops in my town are real dicks. Call the police station and ask them.

On my old POS car, I had a purple neon license plate frame. My dad got pulled over when borrowing my car (I think the cop was confused when he saw a 50 year old with that light). He just told my dad to take it off.
Then I started driving with it covered so it didn't shine directly out, but still lit up the plate. I got pulled over for that too and they gave me a fix-it ticket. He said the light for your license plate has to be white.
Then I put it inside my car around the center console and a cop pulled me over because he thought I was using a laptop while driving. He didn't know if the light inside the car was illegal so he didn't give me a ticket.
Bottom line is that unless you want to get pulled over frequently, don't put neon under your car. Of course, if you have a switch you can just turn it off around cops, but it's never good to give them an excuse to pull you over because if you're also speeding or something they can nail you. I never drove fast in that car, so fortunately I have never received a moving violation.
