there are 1.4,1.6, and 1.8L versions of the MZR series engines in europe including a common rail deisel...don't even think the 2.0 and 2.3L options are available there...only 2 trim packages for each model 3 in the states- s and i. Hope this clears some things up.

Good/Bad of the 3?

The Good: All of the options (Zenon lights, Navi System, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Leather Seats, 6 CD Changer, 17 inch Rims, Moonroof, etc.) - some are very uncommon for the compact class
The 2.3 engine from the 6 gives you adequate power.
It's a head turner. (I get "What's that a Mercedes?", a lot)
Best looking compact on the road (in my opinion)

The Bad: More disappointing than bad; They should have given the US version an engine option of 200 hp or more. You get a cool looking car but when Imprezzas, Lancer Evolutions, VW GTI's and RSX's challenge you at a red light, you're gonna get smoked. US versions don't get the auto wipers, headlights and climate control of foreign versions. No XM Radio option. That's about it on my list of bad stuff!

Overall, its a great car!

The good: Drives ****** awesome. Just waitin' for the break-in period to come due so I can see what all 160 horses really do...

The bad: The horn sound is ultra gay. I got a 8-inch stress crack in the top of the winshield 3 days after I took delivery-> the dealer's got one coming for me, but it still sux. grrrr...

Well, aside from the RSX, the rest are all turbocharged. So what do you expect. I haven't driven one yet, so I can't really say or compare. I hope to get ahold of one soon for testing.. I'd like to develop a turbo kit for this car. I do agree.. It's definitely a head turner.

G/B?

Don't get me wrong! I knew what I was getting. I just wish I had a more powerful engine option. I know one is coming though. Mazda (like most car makers) start out with modestly powered new versions and then launch more powerful ones 2 to 4 years after the initial launch (i.e. Protege Mazdaspeed).
