08 Mazda 3 Very Light Misfire
Hi all,
Just bought my Mazda 3 about 3 months ago. Very happy with the purchase other than one issue. I recently took a 1000 mile road trip (500 miles each way) and when I reached my final destination I drove up a mountain gaining 5000 feet of elevation every night and down every morning.
Sometime during this trip my engine developed a very light misfire. The misfire is very random though. I put some fuel enhancer stuff in the tank that is supposed to clean injectors, carb, and stabilize the fuel . . . but I'm not sure if it helped.
Usually the misfire does not occur driving around town (max speed 35) but if I take the car on the freeway or on 55 MPH roads for consistent driving the misfire can be anywhere from nonexistent to very light but consistently occuring every 10ish seconds. You can hear it as a light *puff* sound and if you focus enough you can feel a slight tug on the car as well.
There is no check engine light and I don't know how to check for codes, but nothing has popped up so far so I'm assuming there are no codes either.
Any possible solutions?
Thanks
Michael
P.S. This is a 2008 Mazda 3 i Touring with 55,000 miles on it.
