Unhappy Engine knocking

Hi there.I have an 04 sport with apx 260kms on it.The other day while sitiing in a drive thru i noticed i slight "knock"in my engine.I drove a few hundred feet to my work parking lot and the knock was more noticeable.Instead of driving it i had it flatbedded home to avoid further damage!I have removed the plugs, valvepan cover to look for visible damage. The cams look fine and from what i can see the lifters appear to be fine but i cant really get a good look at them!To try and pin point the knock, well its hard to say almost an middle to upper right to center of engine. It doesnt do it untill the revs are up.At idle its barely noticable! But def sounds as if somethings broke and rattling around somewheres.Im going to put it back together and take it to the shop.Ive read about a "knock sensor?"could that be it?Also ive read about the intake flap problem but i really dont figure that to be the problem!Any ideas would be great , the cheapest engine i can find is 5000kms away and 2500 CDN.Ouch! Thanks!!!!!

Same thing happened to me. turns out the pistons were hitting the valves. now I need a new engine. Yours looks out of warranty though.

i would normaly do whatevers cheaper. but if I was faced with that decision i would look at the condition of your 3's body, mines starting to rust so i would rebuild, but if yours is mint, i would go all out on a new one.
