Engine Replacement Advice(Transmission) for 05’ 3S 2.3L

Hi fellow Mazda’s 3 owners and the few stragglers. I’ve read the topics on engine replacement, the cost associated with a used vs. rebuilt and they were helpful but my question has to do with
the transmission once the engine has been replaced. So what is the likelihood that the transmission(AT) will fail once a used engine is installed, the mechanic I’ve spoken with advises that I could get lucky and the transmission will be fine but a newer engine (40-50K miles) could potentially over-tax the transmission in 1-2 years, therefore needing replacement. It’s a dilemma because I have 103K miles on it and it may be worth 6.5k in trade-in minus the engine so maybe 2K trade-in. If it’s worth while to fix I would rather do so, as Im not in the position to put out 11-12K for a used vehicle.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated~
