Mazda speed Parts OEM

What are your thoughts on the OEM Mazda Speed parts? Exhaust and Intake? Had anyone added these to there 3?

I have a MS6 with the same engine and the intake and exhaust are GREAT first mods. I highly recommend them.

most mazdaspeed parts are re-labels of existing aftermarket kits (intakes = AEM, exhaust = bosal, clutches = exedy) that said they are still good parts

One other good thing about the Mazdaspeed parts is as long as you have them installed at the dealer they will be covered under warranty. That's always a plus!!

Thank you all for your comments! I have decided to purchase both for my 3 this weekend! Mazda stated with both a 10 to 15% gain in hp could be accomplished. SCORE!

That's awesome! Keep us posted on how everything is after you get it done.

does the exhaust drone at all at 75-80mph? Have you gone to a dyno at all to see what kind of gains you got?

As far as whp goes, adding a catback exhaust and CAI isn't going to add enough power to warrant a trip to a dyno IMO (too costly for those minor bolt on mods). I would guess about a 20 fwhp gain which if my math is right then that would equate to about a 8-9 whp increase. I've just never seen a catback system and CAI add 10-15%. I did the math on that and that's almost a 50hp increase over stock. Granted that if that is true I can bet that it is fwhp which would give you about 18-19 whp vs stock. I'm not sure what Mazda is saying about what gains are accomplished but since they have all the money and can afford dyno time I'll do some research and try to find dyno sheets on the factory Mazdaspeed parts.

Everything I could find in just the few minutes I had this morning is talking about a 30 hp increase from intake and exhaust. I haven't found if that is fwhp or whp. I'm going to guess fwhp b/c nobody ever advertises whp unless it's worth the time. The loss from flywheel to pavement isn't worth them not selling parts. I'll keep checking on all of it throughout the day as I get a chance. I need to sell some cars today so I can start modding my MS3 instead of sitting here just talking about them!! Haha.

well...I plan on heading to the dyno after I do the cai (and if I get the exhaust, after that as well) just because I like going to dyno days

Hey if you got the money to do it more power to ya. Post up on exact numbers so we'll have some more concrete numbers on what the parts really do.

That's good that you already laid down your base line. I'm glad someone has the money and place to do all this!! Haha. The nearest dyno to me is about 2 hours away and my work hours are way too crazy to find time to go out there.

The dyno I go to is about 2 hours away also, but the shop owner is a very good friend of mine so I usually go up there for a weekend, party, and I get a decent rate for the dyno...its always a good time

You've got it good then. The guy here is outrageous on his rate for the dyno from what I've heard from all my friends. And when I say outrageous I mean high as giraffe @$$.
