Performance?

I have a 2004 Mazda 3 2.3 hatch........auto 4 speed . I already have exhaust, intake, suspension, wheels, and tires. I was wanting to do something else performance wise. I was hoping somebody here could tell me some options I have.

lets see you got pulleys, grounding kit. cosworth intake manifold (makes a difference), and maybe save up for a hiboost or focussport turbo kit. preferably hiboost cuz it has a bigger turbo.

Hiboost + forged internals will give you mad powah!

Doesn't the 'Killer 3' run Hiboost with forged for over 500 hp?

Not the ones you need for 500+ hp. You would need at least the upgraded rods, $700.

I have looked and thought about a hiboost. if i did get a hiboost, what all would i have to do to the car/engine to handle that power and what kind of power could i expect with a turbo. ive looked at pulleys too and once again i couldnt really find anything that would tell me what it would to power wise or reliabilty wise. what about a grounding kit......will that actually give me more power and if so how exactly do they work?

If you want to run a hiboost, you don't "need" anything else, as long as you get the kit (intercooler, etc). If you want to run high numbers, you will want to upgrade the rods and piston heads to forged internals.

No one wants to join the zoom-zoom-boom club, haha!

As for grounding, it works by upgrading the grouding points in the car to shorten the grounds.

By stock, the car grounds at the negetive battery terminal for the most part, so some electronics need to travel a longer distance to have a grounding point.
A grounding kit will just add more grounding points around the car, allowing the electricity in the car to stabilize as there is less resistance.

so if i get the hiboost with the intercooler and stuff, then down the line decide to run higher numbers then all i would have to do is replace my rods and heads with forged ones and then turn up the boost? what kind of numbers would that possibly put me at?......at the wheels not the crank

Yup, sounds pretty accurate. We have a member running a car name the 'Killer 3', over 500hp at the wheels. He has lot more stuff into it, but it gives you an idea.

Check it out here, He posted dyno sheets and all if you scroll down:

ya ive seen that......its nice. but his is manual and he is sayin that he needs a new clutch. mines auto.....you wouldnt happen to know what the stock tranny will hold up to would you? i mean as long as the engine block can take the heat (im sure it can) then the only thing i would need to do, i would think, is replace my rods, heads, and tranny maybe. how much would a cosworth manifold cost? i looked on their site but i guess i looked over it cuz i couldnt find it anywhere

as for as I know you'll deffinately want a tranny cooler and you might possibly want to upgrade the valvebody. Also I read that it's recommended to only use manumatic mode and to let up on the throttle when shifting.

meaning if i do hiboost it. only use manumatic? will that actually free up the pressure on the tranny when i let off the gas and shift?

Supposedly, that's what I read on mazda3forums from the people that went boost with an auto. Also seems like with the stock tranny, the limit is about 200whp. Again, that's what I gathered on mazda3forums. 200whp is still a pretty nice boost though, considering stock the 2.3 puts out around 125-130

ok heres the link to the manifold and the price is on there too. as for the gains with it you would get a good difference out of it. i dont know n e numbers exactly but with a new bigger manifold, trust me you will feel a difference.

http://focussport.com/cosworth-manifold.htm

and as for getting boosted with an auto tranny. a tranny cooler would be very recommended and i dont know just how using manumatic mode helps but i would try n e thing possible to keep as much pressure off the tranny as possible.

will 200 hp at the wheel be worth $4,000?
