Cool Speed limit

So does anybody know of a way to rise the factory speed limit of 118, to some thing higher. My speedo goes to 140mph I kinda wanna be able to take it faster ten 118 on a track.

I drive a 06 3 hatchback and my speedometer goes to 140 but the factory speed limiter ends at 130...

but i was talking to the performance ceter at my dealership about part upgrades and im sure that they will have no problem reprograming the speed limiter to something higher

or you could buy a programmer and change it yourself...

How are you able to achieve 130mph? Everything I have read and heard is that all US spec Mazda 3's top out at 118mph. I too have an 06 Mazda 3 hatchback and I just posted a new thread on the HKS SLD device. Mine tops out at 118mph.

can you reprogram the speedo for smaller tires? that should allow the wheel RPM to be higher and bump the high speed.... that is if you can't reprogram the limit.
Something tells me the aerodynamics may go south when you go too fast - be careful.

If you want to do a hack you could interrupt the wheel speed sensor signals on each sensor

I also have a 2006 Mazda3 hatchback and unless you have a turbo I don't see you going passed 115. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/mazda/2...a3-ar9146.html <-- click

08 m3 sedan here and 118 is the top too, i have bought the HKS SLD once but that didn't work and had to re-sell it and ended up with searching again how to get pass that 118 limit but don't want to pay 300 bucks to add 28 miles to top speed

I hear you there but eventually we are going to give in and do it in the long run cause whats the sense in spending buckets of money to upgrade air intakes, exhaust and all sorts of performance goodies if they are only going to take us faster to our bottleneck at 118 mphs?? It does suck but we will have to change ECU or pay someone to work around it.
