Stuck with stock?

Stuck with stock?
Hey everyone. I'm new here on the boards and I have a couple questions. I've got a stock '05 2.0L automatic Mazda 3. Is it ridiculous to think I can turn this into something good...or am I doomed to be stuck with stock? I've never heard of anyone turning this model into anything, but as I said, I'm new. I'd like some suggestions....outside of "get a new car".
Thanks.
Thanks.

Welcome! If you look around here, and other forums for that matter, there's a lot you can do to a 3, no matter which engine. If you're looking for big power gains, then those are harder to come by than if you have a 2.3, but cosmetics are all the same. If you go to the photo and video gallery, you'll see a lot of possibilities.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear someone on here say something like that. I started looking at the parts sites and noticed that a majority of them seemed to go with the 2.3L only. Guess I just need to research it more.

Now that we established the possibility...any suggestions on where to go for a manual transmission? I know I can't change the transmission alone and use the rest of the automatic's parts, so I guess I need some help with the rest of that as well.

... well as for the transmition.. i dont know anything about that.. but on M3F, there are a few people that have done a tripoint turbo (i think thats what its called) on thier 2.0 and have gotted some great gains from that.. then you have the suspesion upgrades that are fairly easy to come by...
I have the 2.3 hatch myself so there are a lot of things I want to do.. but well... my hours got cut back at work and I cant afford anything like that right now... lol

Actually i have the 2.0L manual and i keep up with if not out run the 2.3L so no worries there. Get the Injen or the weaponr intake they are the best for the car. If you need to know anything else let me know. By the way if it bolts to the 2.3L it will bolt to the 2.0L
