Where in NC are you?
I've got a '91 LX 5-speed that I'm thinking of getting rid of soon. The body ittself has 198k miles on it, but I swapped in an engine/tranny from a '91 Escort GT that has 108k miles on it. A month or 2 ago.
When I bought it from the guy, it was apparent it had been in a minor wreck. The front left fender was roughed up and the hood was bent a little. The car was still driveable, but you should know that it has been in a wreck. I put on a just barely dented fender in place of the old one, and I put on a perfect hood off a junked Protege, and there is some bondo on the drive side front door, but I'm not sure how extensive it is. There is no unibody rail damage.
The only problem I have noticed from whatever wreck it was involved in is off-center steering. The wheels are aligned, but dead center for the wheels is about 90 degrees counter clockwise on the steering wheel.
Mechanically, everything in the car works except for an electrical problem I am currently trying to sort out (Which I will fix before I sell), cruise control, and A/C. Cruise control should work, but it isn't hooked up. I bought the car with a dead A/C compressor, and just removed the compressor, heat exchanger, and lines. Power windows, sunroof, lights, sideview mirrors, seatbelts, radio all work. The clock does not. The transmission still shifts smooth as butter (I put the recommended ATF in it when we swapped the tranny in, but I have 2 quarts of Redline tranny oil I will give you if you buy the car), the engine idles fine, pulls fine, and revs perfectly.
I don't have any pictures of it in it's current state, but I can get some very quickly if you're interested. Just know that you're going to want to get it repainted if you want it to look nice. (Body cladding is removed and I have spraypainted it white because its original paint was in horrible shape.)
I'm looking to get around $1100 for it, but I'd probably sell to you for a flat $1k if you want to buy it.
You can email me @ grundle@bellsouth.net too.

I just fixed the electrical problem today. Know what it was? A slipping belt. Brand new (Never buy the $7 belt from Autozone.)
But seriously, what's with the animosity towards me? I'm not trustworthy because of my name? In all honesty, I would be more quick to mis-trust someone if they think painting their entire car snot orange is cool, versus what someone chooses as their username.

i don't have anything asgainst your car...i thought it would be funny-----i don't care it i sell it or not----the kid can't afford mine--i e-mailed him the other night.....so it doesn't matter anyway
i found out that blue book for my ride is seriously sucky and i might as well put a bodykit on it and keep it now......i mean--the privaTE party value is only like 1500----that **** doesn't make any scince---i paid more than that with all stock.....
