Autocross driver's school and race
Our little club up here in Bellingham is having its annual autocross driver's school on Saturday, April 13, and the first race of the season the following day, the 14th. You can get more info and register at http://www.chuckanutscc.org.
We're a small club that's very active in autocrossing and we put on a hell of a school. You'll learn all the basics then get a chance to put your learning to good use the next day. It's a great opportunity for beginners to see what racing's all about.

Sorry you can't make it, it'll be fun. I used to drive to Kent regulary for SCCA regional autocrosses at the old Boeing Space Center, so I know of what you speak.
For info on events in the Seattle area, try Western Washington Sports Car Council at http://wwscc.org. They should have something that will work for you.
