@home may shut down
even tho i am running slow *** dial-up. I know many people running @home for there connection to the net. If they dont come up with a plan tonight at midnight they will shut down 48% of all cable modems in the US. How many people on this board will be affected? I know what its like to go back to dial-up. And it sucks big time. So hopefully @home will stay up and running.

well.. I suppose I spoke too soon last night. This morning when I woke up... freakin cable was down (according to att... for up to six days.) And I don't have a god damn modem in my computer. So I've gotta use my moms when she's not using it. This blows.. so i'll be away from the forums until @home is back up.

It all depends on the cable provider, I have been without internet now since it shut down late on the 30th. Here where I am at its AT&T (blarg) they are the ONLY company that is ditching @homeless, other smaller companies like Charter@home negotiated the terms and I hear they are back up, unfortunetly AT&T is something like 45% of @home and carries over a million customers. They say 2 weeks, I say longer

All the DSL companies keep calling and stopping by now that @home in Colorado is down. They're taking advantage of all the customers who want broadband... even though it'd take them more time to reinstall and activate everything than it'll take time for @home to be back up. BTW, I really hate dial-up.

"Should" being the key word, I live in Oregon.. Supposably one of the first to be back in action.. still I get nothing. I know they are working on it though. I still cant ping my IP but at least I can trace it going to somewhere before it gets lost. I rekon AT&T needs to hire someone to fix their routing tables (me?).

AT&T Halts Excite Bid
9:50 a.m. Dec. 4, 2001 PST
AT&T said on Tuesday it terminated its agreement to purchase certain assets of ExciteAtHome for $307 million, citing a number of significant contractual breaches and other violations by the bankrupt broadband Internet access company.
AT&T said that as of Tuesday morning, it had moved more than 500,000 of those customers to its own network and hoped to have about 80 percent of its subscribers on that network by the end of the day.
LOL, stupid excite burn in hell.
