Lightbulb 350Z -compared- 3000GT

Can a new 350Z outrun a TT 3000GT?
Doesn't a TT 3000GT have more HP than 350Z
does? I'm not for sure. I get the feeling that
a 3000 would outrun the 350. Butt hat's just because
I've driven a 3000 and I know how much power it has.
Haven't had the pleasure of driving a 350 yet though.

the 350z should win... the 3000gt is a ******* heavy *** car... 4000+lbs, hell my riviera weights less than it.

It would be close, but I think the 350Z would probably win by a nose. The 3000GT has more power but the Z has a slightly better power-to-weight ratio (3200 lbs/287 hp = 11.2 lbs/hp vs. 4100 lbs/320 hp = 12.8 lbs/hp). In a 1/4 mile race, the 3000GT would probably beat the Z off the line due to the AWD launch, but the Z should reel it in by finish line, and would probably outrun the 3000 at high speed because it's smaller and more aerodynamic.

I could be wrong tho. Spec-based bench races are often wrong because the accuracy of the specs varies from company to company, and there are lots of unknown factors to consider (car's ability to launch, etc.) Best way to find out is to arrange a drag race.

TT 3000GT, are you talking about the new Toyota? Or the old Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4?

the 3000 gt would probably win, but the 350 z would be pullin on it at the end of the quarter (imho).

I have no idea what a 350z has in it for a motor or hp. I dont know the weight either. But i wouldn't underestimate a 3000gt VR4 they may be heavy but they can hold there own. i would pick a 3000gt over the z with a good driver ...Whats the stats on a 350z?...Jon

ones who don't know the specs of both cars nor understand basic physics will make foolish "bets" on which car will win

Well Lets state the facts
Nissan 350z 0-60 5.4 1/4 mile 14.1
Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4 0-60 5.4 1/4 13.5

These are Car and Drivers tests.. So it looks like the VR4 will win. As for top speed it looks like the gt was pulling near the end since they both have the same 0-60 times .. And it seems that fat *** car can hold its own...Jon

In that case, I guess we know what the
fastest Japanese car is. Isn't the 3000
refered to as the Corvette over in
Japan?

Theres plenty of Jap sports cars that will walk on the 3000gt VR4. But its not right to let peoplewalk on them cause they are alittle overweight . I know the R34 skyline is even with the 3000GT VR4....Jon
