Accord Euro R or Mazda RX-8

My parents in Hong Kong are considering in purchasing a vehicle. I don't know if you guys are familiar with the Accord Euro, its a 2.0L i-VTEC powered sports sedan sharing the same engine with the new Integra/RSX Type r engine, with space for four people. I know the RX-8 makes more power and even more torque, but I'm still worried about the long term integrity of the rotors and also the fuel economy, especially with the ridiculous gas prices in Asia. The RX-8 has better handling and is lighter but can it really seat people comfortably? The Accord has more room and has a 220hp 2.0L i-VTEC engine, and I think the piston engine will be easier to maintain. Still confused. Any advice or comments is much appreciated.

and dont worry about the rotary being undependable.... they are beasts, and will run very dependably for a long time, i have an aunt with a 88 RX7 with 250thousand miles on hers, with nothing but a rebuild tranny and a new clutch on it.... and the thing rides and drives like its new!

these things will run along time, and considering its a N/A engine, not a turbo engine, it should be even more dependable

Your aunt is a god then I don't know anyone with more then 150,000 miles on there rotary engines, I know thousands of people who have over 180,000 miles on there hondas, but whats the price difference ?

yeah im very amazed at my aunts car, i drove it this past weekened, and my god it feels new..... but she takes very good care of her car and babies it.... she thankfully is on the waiting list for a RX8 to replace her aging RX7, shes had this thing since 88 when it was brand new, and has moved 4 times since she had it, so its been everywhere!

shes very lucky that it is still running!
