[QUOTE=zerocover]Driving tests need to be strickter and children should not be given mustangs.
There are countries in europe where they dont allow you a car over 100hp untill youve been driving for a year.

Its the same in Australia.... on your learners (age 16.. u need a full licence person sittin in front seat @ all time when on ur Learners..) and probationary licence (first 3 years of driving..) ur restricted to card with 125KW or less..... and recently all turbo and V8+ cars got banned....

its a pain in the *** but i think its doin some justice... i still think driver education is more important than these restrictions but ye

Most of those kids that race, dont' even pay for their cars. So why would they care if they wreck, they'll just get another one. I have paid for every vehicle I own, so I can't afford to race and wreck or get a ticket.

I'm not against people getting licenses at 16yrs old. I do think they need more drivers education and progressive licensing.

It's not all about your maturity level it's also your experience. 18yr old with no experience is worse than 17yr old with 1 yr experience.

Were I grew up, you could get your farm license at 14. Most of the kids who had one were much better drivers at 16 then the rest of us.

If I remember right some states have progressive licenses. At 16 you can only drive from school to work and home and never after dark and no one under 18 in the car. At 17 you could drive with one other person anywhere but not after dark and at 18 you were free.

Personly I think if you want a license you need to prove you can afford it. buy your own gas, Insurance, up keep and maitnence. none of this mommy and daddy help. My dad bought me my first car, a $700 el cheapo, but i was required to fork over every thing else. That meant I had to keep a job and a budget. If i wanted a better car than that or I got in an accident and totaled it, It was up to me to buy my another one. It kept me driving pretty safe and taught me to budget and save.
