anyone sell cell phones for a living?
I'm looking to buy a new nokia phone to replace my old work phone. I figured if anyone on the forum sold phones and wanted the comission I'd go through them.
can you buy cell phones online from other states?? I dont know much about them. I rarely ever use them just need one for games and the occassional call
p.s. I only want to buy a nokia n-gage qd.

you can, you just have to make sure it works with your current carriers frequencies. like GSM 850/1900 for the n-gage. all you'd need to do is call up your carrier's cust'r service & transfer the esn from the old to the new phone and also activate the SIM card. good luck

-_-a sorry, hehe. GSM is the band. you can usually get that info from cust'r service or just go into best buy and ax the wireless sales people whats in your area. ESN is like the serial number of the phone. SIM card is a little card w/ chip that you plug into the phone. that way the phone knows what carrier you have and stuff. it can also store address book info too but its prob better to store it on your phone.

manm, I've been reading up on these service plans and they all SUCK.
I have another phone (wifes) that is on t-mobile pre-paid and that's perfect for us because we rarely use it and whenever we go to "re-charge it" we can determine how many minutes we want to add. They basically have a cost/minute so if we put $20 on it we get a $20 balance. ringtones are $1.50 so we can download stuff and it just takes from that pool. It's very good for us.
These other places i'm reading about are all like $35 activation fee, plus $29.99 a month for 300 minutes with nights and weekends. I dont wanna pay $30/month for minutes i'm not going to use. They also have a bunch of extra features like call forwarding and text messaging...i'd never use that. why do I have to pay for it?

text messaging can come in handy. it can be discreet and a great way to send someone info they can read and keep in the memory. if you are transferring the service from an old phone to new, you can usually talk the company into dropping the activation fee. im not sure if the n-gage can be bought w/ prepaid. i dont sell phones, i just had some experience with it and one of my friends used to be an AT&T rep, now she's a T-Mobile sales rep.

do u guys have capped plans over there??
i am on a capped plan.. which means i get $500 worth of calls, sms, data a month but the maximum i pay is $59...
the call rates r quite good (compared with the other plans which doesn;t have a cap)...
but since u dont use ur phone much pre-paid would be best option...
ur GSM bands vary within the country?? damnn hehe

hmm, our plans are mainly monthly allotments of minutes.
i didnt mean that GSM varied, just availability is scarce vs. something like TDMA. just ask the average t-mobile customer in the US how often they get clear and concise signal.

yeah, i found on the n-gage website that you can buy the phone pre-paid through t-mobile (who I like because their phones work out at my house) for $99. the only downer is that when you pre-pay you dont get 4 free games. So I ended up buying a set of cds with like 45 n-gage games and about 2000 java games and apps for $4 off ebay. I think I'll be ok on games for a little while.

we have 3G, but unfortunately the most common usage is streaming stupid movie trailers and 30 sec. tv clips onto a 1.5" lcd screen. usefulness for enhancing my life and general cell phone experience: big fat greek 0
