Anyone want to help me get a free iPod?
You can get one for yourself too if want. There's this referral program thing where they are giving away brand new 20 gig ipods. I know these stupid referral sites are always too good to be true, but i know a guy who has actually gotten an ipod from them. (thats the only reason i'm doing it)
Basically you sign up, and then you fulfill one of their "offers." Most of these "offers" are really stupid things like magazine subscriptions or credit cards or something, and usually you have to pay at least some shipping. However there is one where you pay 7 bucks by credit card to have 3 software cds sent to your house, and then if you don't like them, (which of course you don't) you send them back within 10 days and they refund the 7 dollars.
Once you do that, refer 5 other people to sign up and complete 1 "offer" a piece, and they send you a friggin ipod.
Anyway, it sounded pretty sweet to me, considering that the hardest thing you have to do is pay a temporary 7 bucks and then drop a few cds in the mail. If you're at all interested in signing up i'd really appreciate it if you used my link:

But Feel free to ask me for more info before you decide.

yeah yeah, i know. i've tried these things before and they have never worked, but like i said i personally know a guy who has recieved an ipod from them. thats the only reason i'm doing it. there is no fine print on this stuff. just go look, if you can find something that proves it will cost any more than i said, i'll hang my head in shame and admit defeat
the only way it can cost you anything if you do it the way i said is if you screw up and forget to mail the cds back to them within 10 days, in which case it costs you 60 bucks. even if you are stupid enough to do that, it's a 300 dollar ipod for 60.

do you know what happens to your credit when you fill out a credit ard app??? even f they don't accept you your credit takes a hit. Not a big hit but a hit none-the-less. IF they accept you your credit takes a BIG hit.
just food for thought.

It just doesn't make sense that you are going to get an i-pod for sixty bucks, at someone else's loss. I don't think you are looking hard enough for the strings attached. That's easy to do when whomever you are doing business with doesn't tell you what you are really getting into. If it was a not-for-profit thing, it would be a charity, wouldn't it? If it is legit, then you should be able to answer the following:
1) Where are they headquartered? For how long have they been at this address?
2) How many years have they been in business?
3) What other services do they offer?
4) Are there any complaints on file at the better business bureau, or local chamber of commerce?
5) Who owns this company?
All easily answered with a few searches on Google.... if not, that's also a sign that it's a scam. But here's my two cents - if it seems too good to be true, it USUALLY IS.
But hey, if you don't want us to talk you out of it, that's fine. We look forward to hearing about the end result... you'll have to post that photo of you hanging your head in shame.

you make a good point that nobody would be giving away something for nothing. which is why the only way you get anything out of this is by taking this scam website, and scamming them back. Which is to say, buy their stuff, get credit for buying it, then return it to get your money back, and still recieve credit.
google used to run a program where you place a google search box on your website, and for every time a person searches google through your website, they would credit you 3 cents. the trick was that they wouldn't send you any money at all unless you got $100 worth of unique searches in a month. that works out great for google because not too many people who try these little scams have enough traffic on a website to generate that much use of a search box. one of my computer proficient friends put one of these search boxes on his website, and then wrote a bit of javascript code that would simply search google over and over and over. at the end of the month google sent him a check for 250 dollars, and a letter saying they were canceling his membership in the program because they suspected fraud.
what i'm suggesting with this ipod thing is similar, in that you would be blatantly ripping them off if you got an ipod from them, but they created this deal based on the assumption that for the most part they wouldn't have to give any ipods away at all. i don't feel a lot of remorse in ripping off a website for 300 bucks when that website is trying to rip off tons of people online.
