Auto/Manual

I'm one of the few people here that bought an auto (a couple weeks ago).. I used to have a standard, had no problems driving it, and did think it was fun (seems to me even the crappiest standard can hold its own off the line)..

However, a big part of my decision to get a p5 was because of it being a 'small car' with lots of room for camping gear.. my friends and I go on a lot of camping road trips.. so I decided to get an auto so that everyone would be comfortable driving it..

It really depends on how you plan on using the car.. don't let these macho guys bully you into anything .

Tru don't let us bully you into anything you don't like!

MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!

like again it depends on how you like driving, out of me and 3 other friends.....me and one other friend are into cars allot, and we decide manual over anything, my other 2 friends don't give a damn, and I think they would never learn to drive manual IMO!!

I taught my one friend whose into cars how to drive manual, and his first time was in my pro, at 3:00am in a walmart parking lol hehe
he quickly got the hang of it. He was into cars before learning manual, but he had noone to teach him until i did. Now he's looking for a 5spd Ford Probe. (hehe with a Mazda engine lol )

But i offered my other two friends to teach them...one of them doesn't care, and the other wants to but when he sits into an automatic he had to ask me which pedal does what!!! so I don't wanna teach him yet.

So it depends on you, if you love to drive and wanna feel and have more control over the car, get a manual, otherwise if you don't want it so much for the fun, but want the car primarily for trransportation needs (I'd still get a manual) but then I suggest an automatic

and I'll end my post in

MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!MANUAL!!!!!

I got taught to drive a manual and now I miss it. I only got like 2 lessons but I got the hang of it pretty quick. whenever I drive, I think of my car as standard and pretend to shift up and down to the tune of the engine while pressing the imaginary clutch....Haha..pathetic I know, but it taught me pretty good that I can visualize and now I can drive stick no problem. ONly problems are going into reverse and parking on hills.

Remember, when you are about to stall, press the clutch.

If u park on hills use ur ebrake at all times ive seen standards pop out of gear and just go down the hill :-). And if to afraid of rolling back into a car use ur ebrake to hold the car and let it out slowly so u dont roll back into the idiot behide u that pulls up to close :-)... i think standard is much better just my 2 cents..I wish i had someone teach me i just got my 5 speed and stalled it 400 times ...Jon 93 lx

parking uphill = E-brake AND first gear

parking downhill = E-brake AND reverse gear

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS put on the E-brake if you are parking the car, never just put it in a gear and that's it.
