Exclamation bad accedent on my street!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

man what a weekend, got back from Mont tremblant this evening....i was surfing SG, my window was open and suddenly i heard this screeeeeeeeeeeeech smack, i was like Holy **** that was close, well i was very curious so i got the dog leash and took the dog for a walk so i could find the accedent, well i go down the street, the fire/police/ambulance was there......i look and i see my buddy (that lives down the street) holding his girl friend talking to the cops! i talked to him for a moment and they said they were alright

So i race around the block with my dog, get back to my house, drop the dog off, and go back to check out the damage. She has a 2001 ford focus doing about 50km/h around the corner and must have understeered and hit a parked GMC 98 1500 pickup that was on the street. The crash knocked the pickup's front end onto the grass. The focus is a complete right off, the engin compartment was totaly crushed. The truck, by the look of it just has a crumpled bumper on the front left side and a smashed light casings and prob a bent axle + wheels

i later find out that the reason why my buddies girl friend crashed is that she was trying to answer her cell phone....don't know if this is true or not though cause i was speaking to the people that witnessed the crash

anyways i drove them back to his place, didn;t ask any questions on what happend, i just told them to call me if they need anything....she was pretty shaken up, its a good thing the car had air bags

god bless the person who invented airbags! i was in a nice accident on the 2nd (commonly referred to as the march 2nd incident). my life didn't flash b4 my eyes, but i did have enough time in that split second to think about our velocity vs. the dead stop and what type of crash position would be best...then the smoke from the airbag woke me up!

onehawaiian is the new advocate for airbags.

Glad she's ok!
I agree with Oblivious! Cell phones are nothing but trouble half the time, ESPECIALLY when it's a soccer mom in an SUV, but I think we covered that in another thread lol.... Speaking of cell phones I had a couple come into the restaurant last night on a date... sitting there the ENTIRE time on separate cell phones having two SEPARATE conversations... romantic... pfffft. lol

honestly, how hard is it to drive and talk at the same time? you don't have to look at your phone. you don't need two hands to hold the phone. so wth?
i have no problem whatsoever. in fact people in hawaii don't really have a problem w/phones and driving. and we have a lot of "important" people with cells. no lie, if you are 13yrs old and don't have a cell, you are not "cool". lol

i don't get it tho. women can put on make-up and drive like nothing, but as soon as u put a phone in their hands...

I agree with you that it shouldn't take THAT much talent to be able to drive and talk at the same time, BUT they still have those hands-free adaptors you can get so that all you have to do is hit the answer button and talk away. A friend of mine has a cellphone permanently attached to her ear and she drives a stick shift, she'll hold the phone to her ear with her left hand, steer with her right, and also shift gears with her right hand... taking her hand OFF the wheel to do this...
Anytime we go anywhere I demand we take MY car and I drive! lol
