My Girlfriend got caught on our way back from florida in Atlanta. 98mph in a 65mph zone. I told her speeding in the states is stupid as the state troopers just don't care who you are. young girl, grey mustang, 32 over the limit, $550 and a reckless driving charge. At least we are canadian and it doesn't affect her insurance.

I got tagged on the hwy 400 doing 160kph in a 100kph zone on my bike. cop let me go, usually I finde a couple of yessirs and nosirs. and they will go easy.

I have been pulled over on my bike 8 times this year, over 20 last year and god knows how many before that, but I haven't had a ticket in over 8 years.

I just got a ticket last weekend at the street races. I got cut off trying to get out of the parking lot, so I was the last one in line, and got nailed, and a lecture about how bad the washer lights are on your hood, apparently they cause a few wrecks. I can't help that some people are sooo freckin stupid.

It's not worth going fast

My first and only ticket was a 74 in 55, I'm lucky because about a mile before the speed trap (which was pretty obvious btw) I was doing a 100+ mph sprint to show a friend what my DX could do..

When you slow down from a high speed you still have no idea how fast you're going.. you will get caught

Anyway, I took it to court and got it reduced to a "Travelling too fast charge" which is, uh, no points, no insurance problems.. smooth sailing. I was lucky.

I got a Passport 8500 and uh, realized I don't need to drive fast anymore.. I don't go anymore than 10-15mph above the speed limit, max, on the highway anymore, too much threat of instant on laser, we've got smart staties in Connecticut who pull the trigger the last possible second and have dark colored cars.

Enjoy your 30mpg and just go cruiiiiising

You probably should take it to court ::shrugs::

because i dont think i can take the stop class (class to get out of the ticket) for this speeding ticket because its over 20mph over. damn. im paying like 70 a month now, i wonder how much this will effect this.
Check into it....in my area there is a 25 mph over cut off for taking the class, HOWEVER, if you go and talk to the judge HE can authorize it.....in fact you are only free to take the class ONCE every 12 months....so if you get a ticket within 12 months of the last one you are screwed...UNLESS you talk to the judge and he okays it.....one of the guys here at work took the class SIX TIMES in one year!!! ..... the judge let him.

SO, I think it would be worth the time to see if you can talk to the judge or whomever and see if you can take the class.

and I don't know about there...but here you can even rent a machine at blockbuster and the tape and you just plug in your phone line to the machine...and watch it on tv....and you take an ONLINE test!!! pretty cool....

too much zoom zoom

I just got my licence back a couple weeks ago after having a one month suspension. I got nailed a while back doing 194 km/h in a 100km/h zone ended up get that dropped down too 134km/h, but I was stupid a followed it up by getting 2 more in 4 days. We are allowed 9 points before you need to go for an interview. I had 18! Needless to say my driving habits changed since then.

Ricewagon, kinda sounds like you drive the 401

Heh, all of the rest of you guys and girls are kinda crazy, I think I'll be sure to stay away from all of you so I don't get killed! (j/k)

My biggest ticket was $250 for 100 km/h in a 60 zone. Damn RCMP here in Ottawa... I pled guilty with an explanation and got the fine reduced to $50. Better than nothing I suppose.

....reply

Actually when I got caught doing that speed it was 3:30 in the morning on a Wednesday night. I was on my way home and saw that there were no cars on the road and decided to open her up. I didn't even see the cop on the side of the road. All that I noticed was that there were a set of headlights gaining on me but he didn't use his flashers till he got right behind me. We figured that it took him 8 kilometers to catch me.

Yup, the Eastern Parkway, just behind the Sewage Treatment Plant in Gloucester... The b*stard! I even went down to Pointts to get their advice. They told me with the RCMP, it usually isn't worth fighting since they usually show up (nothing better to do I suppose.) To make matters worse, when the dude at Pointts saw the Officer's name on the ticket, he just laughed. He told me that the Officer was well-known for being a hard-@ss - he had the best (or worst?) reputation in Ottawa! How do you like that? The kicker, I had just found out about a promotion at work - d'oh! Oh well, at least it didn't affect my insurance rates though.

Worst ticket -

52 mph in a 30 mph zone. Third gear in my 2.3L Ranger (90hp at the flywheel) whooping some Probe ***. The cop saw us do a start on a 2-way street, one in each lane (middle of the night, subdivision to be constructed they had just finished the streets and no houses were being built yet), saw me pass the Probe, and then pulled me over. I was able to plead him down to just the speeding. Best part was that I told the bastard in the Probe that I knew I could shift a lot better than him and that I would whoop his *** in my little Ranger and then I went and did it. But it wasn't worth the $200 ticket that I couldn't take class for.

the big one

I got a ticket on my motorcycle doing 140 in a 35. I was late for school one day. To make a long story short, I spent the weekend in Jail, and lost my DL for 2 years, and can not ever get a motorcycle DL in texas again. Oh I forgot the fine, 1200 dollars. The the insurance went way up.

damn, after reading all of those ticket stories, i consider myself extremely lucky! i got a ticket once for driving on the shoulder lane to avoid traffic (i was late for a final exam), but i pleaded "guilty with justification". i told the judge i had swerved into the shoulder lane to avoid an accident, and she dismissed the ticket! on another occasion, i got a "fix it" ticket for my front windows being tinted (in cali, you're not "supposed" to have your front windows tinted, but most cops don't care) after the cop had pulled me over for a "noise violation" (my stereo was too loud, but he didn't bother giving me a ticket for that). i just got my uncle's friend who's a cop to sign off the fix it ticket, and all i paid was a $10 court fee.

when i lived in hawaii, my friend got 22 violations on one stop! in hawaii, they have a thing called "RECON" which basically requires you to get your car inspected because your modifications must be approved. needless to say, my friend didn't have any of his mods approved (nor do most people out there) so they cited him with pretty much every violation they could. one of the most stupid requirements is that you can't put rims on your car that are more than 1" larger in diameter than your stock rims. there was a guy with a license plate that said "FK RCON" (F*@K RECON) which was pretty funny.
