Anything but the new starwars. Just not a big fan of the new ones, the old ones were good, though.
They weren't made for purely for making money (i.e. episode I, etc.), that's what made them good.
I did like lord of the rings, though... I think the next movie with own... The matrix 2 will probably be too over the top to even enjoy, but we'll see I guess : )
I can't wait until "Saharah" comes out. The movie based on the Clive Cussler novel. Ohhhhh baby it's going to be a good one!! (I hope!) : )

Oh yea, to answer your original question, Episode II will be higher grossing that either of the other two movies purely because it's SO hyped

episode2 will be a box office hit, but lord of the rings 2 will have people scrambing to see it. everyone wanted to see the first one, but the ending was sooooo crappy, people will be in line again just to pick up where it left off.
i'm a SW buff, but yeah, the first 3 were really good. now it is kinda looking like it's just a money maker...

Being a theater manager, I'd have to say that Episode II will be the highest grossing of the three. The new Star Wars Trilogy is specifically written for family audiences while both Matrix and The Lord of the Rings have very adult themes and images. Besides, the people at the ratings boards are sure to worship Lucas by giving his film a General to PG rating. More people legally allowed to see the movie = More $$$.
None the less, there are so many big movies coming out in 2002, it's very likely that neither Episode II or The Two Towers will be the highest grossing of the year (Matrix: Reloaded is still at least a year away). Spider-Man opens 2 weeks before Attack of the Clones, and if it's good, it might take some heat away from its competition. Austin Powers 3, Men In Black II, even Spy Kids 2 and Stuart Little 2 are top runners for the summer. Also, Harry Potter 2 is due out in November, and will likely have similar figures as the original...not to mention the next Bond film which opens the same month.
It's gonna be a huge movie year...it looks that way on paper, at least.

Lord of the Rings
My vote was for Lord of the Rings even though SW will probably gross more... the fact is the kid that played Anakin (sp?) couldn't act for **** in the first movie! That's what totally ruined it for me..
P.S Hawaiian... The lord of the rings ended so strange b/c the 3 parts were filmed as one movie... they just cut it up and are releasing them at different times... weird. I know.

I work at Harris Road Cinemas in Pitt Meadows...tiny place with only 3 screens.
Jake Lloyd (aka Crappy Anakin) isn't in Episode II. Hayden Christiensen actually has acting experience, and he was pretty good in Life as a House. It'll be interesting to see how he does.

Decepti, if you need an usher, let me know
For Lord Of The Rings, all the hardcore fans liked it, the ones that read the book, and the walk-ins didn't since there wasn't an end. But I guess that makes sure that the ones that saw the first part will go to see the second part.

mp3angel-
1) you are 100% correct, that kid can't act for ****. let's try rolling, that's a good trick... dumb@ss lines too.
2) we knew going into the movie that it was split into 3 movies (i mean the cartoons were long as heck too!) but it still left most of the theatre saying, WTF???
hard to say who'll gross more since ep1 was sorta lack-luster and LOR left you high and dry, but both equally good movies. i wanna see the jedi actually fight, altho i know they're gonna get their @sses kicked in this one. i wanna hear samuel l. jackson say "reach into the bag and get my light saber; the one that says bad@ss mother f#cker. lol anyone know what movie that's from?

Makaveli, which theater did you work at before? heh...sure, if you don't mind serving the dumbest people in the world, and their kids.
Jake Lloyd WAS pretty bad...but it's also due to George Lucas' lackluster writing. He actually has a co-screenwriter this time around, so we'll see if there are still any stupid lines. Also keep in mind that the new Star Wars tries to follow the same theme as the original trilogy...which, by today's standards, had pretty cheesy writing as well: "Who's scruffy-lookin'?" Even George Lucas couldn't make his film live up to what his fans have made them up to be.
At the same time, the entire Lord of the Rings was filmed together, and The Two Towers and Return of the King are in the can and ready to go. This means that the new films will follow the exact same theme as the first, and the film makers will have no chance on improving on any flaws that were in the first. Oh yeah...and the cartoon was barely an hour and a half long...it just felt really long.
I'm reserving my judgement on either film until their respective "Trilogies" are completed. Sometimes, a film isn't considered good until you reach the end. I treat both of these stories as a single story...and I won't be able to see the end of The Lord of the Rings until Christmas 2003 and the end of Star Wars until May 2005.

Damn it!! It's on the tip of my tongue... ughhhhh... can't remember.... stupid brain farts!
I liked the first lord of the rings, of course THAT surprised me... after all my dad read those books back in the day and I thought it was going to be entirely lame. Those dark riders kicked @ss.
