Unhappy CA smog laws?

Hey I live in California and I am wondering about smog laws:

Ok, I know they spot check the cars. So this means no headers or removing cats for me. However, what does a part have to interfere with to be considered illegal? The injen CAI I intend on getting is apparently not CARB approved, but its not going to mess anything up with emissions and everyone knows that.

Does anyone know of a site i could look at for some clarification on this topic? I tried googling it to no avail. Thanks

its pretty much anything in front of the cat. So yes an intake
will need a CARB sticker on it as well as any headers. But for
new cars you don't have to worry for the 1st 4 or 5 years.

first off...hello Toucci and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

As for the Injen CAI...it IS carb approved....give Injen a call they will give you the "hot poop" if you need.

Check the California DMV code.

It may seem boring, but it will answer a lot of questions and give you knowledge most people don't have.

Thanks, guys! I guess due to the CARB thing I should buy the cold air intake locally. Sounds good! (This way, I can get it sooner )

Ok ive got one more question: Are there ANY CARB certified headers for the p5? I'm almost surely gonna leave it N/A and want to get rid of that nasty primary cat... I heard it passes the smog test even with only one cat so I guess this is a possibility.

sorry toucci....but NO, there are no CARB certified Headers out there....in fact all the haeders out there are officially "for offroad use/race use only".....as they all will totally replace all the cats.
