damn and i thought the Steve Park & Dale Earhardt Jr. wreck a few weeks ago my dad taped and showed me was bad, that dudes got some ***** for sure. I used to be into nascar but after the passing of Dale Earnhardt it has never been the same, it jsut seems that the accidnets in the sport are getting more and more serious. At least almost all of the time the safety features save the driver. There have only been an unfortunate few.

more and more the cars of our sports are being pushed to their very limits....and the limits of the materials and constructions of the cars themselves....and thus more accidents caused by either failures....or the inablility of the drivers to be able to properly control the cars operating on the edge of their capablilties, or what the track they are on will handle safely.
for this very reason we have restrictor plate racing...and other types of "RESTRICTIONS" on the cars of nearly every autosport....to keep the cars and drivers from killing themselves in the pursuit of a trophie and some cash.
Most of the tracks of america are pretty old...and the cars that originally raced on them didn't go anywhere near as fast as they do now....this applies to drag racing too....there is many a dragstrip that when it was built the cars were barely doing 200 mph...now they are bustin 300 mph as the norm.
YES, thank god for all the safety features REQUIRED in the cars today....for without them there would be a few that would sacrifice the weight for the safety...and no doubt there would be a LOT more drivers in the ground.
