Wow. I drove an 85 Golf all thru college and was downright CRUEL to it (7 people in the car on an old logging road, etc). Fun car to abuse. But holy crap, what did they do to that clutch?!

By wrong, do you mean that it's completely toast, or the fact that it goes in "backwards" compared to most cars?

well, I was thinking more along the lines of the huge crack in it.... New APC product, slotted clutch discs!
