Civic Si Hatchback Vs Protege5

First of all will there be a 4 door version of the Civic Si like the one from Japan?
How does this compare with Protege5?

fugly is right!
Im not sure if it will be coming over here in a 4 door .... But that THING is definitely fuGLY ... The shifter being on the dash seems to be a new fadd though... didn't the Matrix have that as well... i think so.. anyhow, I would much rather have my P5 anyday of the week..!

Civic SiR (in Canada) vs. Protege5
One thing I think we are forgetting. The Pro5 is cheaper than the Civic Si (here in Canada), so the SiR will be even more expensive. Probably in the $24 - $26k range. So, bang for the buck, I still think the Pro5 is tops.

DORKY!
I don't know what rally car that shifter would be from but most rally cars just have an extension on the regular shifter or they have levers behind the steering wheel. They also have hand brakes for the rear wheels which helps them make those wicked hairpin turns. Besides, that looks like an A/T. GEEZ you could put a bench seat in the front! But they're probably saving that for the aftermarket along with wood panels!

that thing is so ridiculous. it looks like **** and isn't sporty at all. why the hell does the 2.0 only make 160hp? i would think it'd get more than that since the s2000 is 2.0 and gets 240 hp.

Looks like Civic SiR isn't going to do that well. I just talked to my car enthusiast friend that's Honda crazy. He's planning to sell his 98 Civic Coupe for a 92 Civic Hatch. I told him if he waits, he can get the Civic Si Hatch. Response was "it looks like ****."

If you're going to drop 24K on a 3-door car, might as well go for the Ford Focus SVT. Much better value for dollar on that than this mutant Honda thingy...
How can Honda claim to put out a "rally inspired" shifter? They don't even participte in rally events! Plus, how many rally cars do you see that have the shifter on the center console. haha.
WRX? - nope - paddle
206? - nope - double ring
Focus? - nope - lever next to steering wheel
Lancer? - nope - stick
bah.. Honda's so out of touch with the performance market it's embarassing. They can keep their snotty noses stuck into F1 :P

I've been chillin' on a CRX board for a little while and all of them hate it as well. Here's some more food for thought:
2002 Civic Si w/ 160 HP, weighs 2800lbs. I'm just guessing here, but that's a lot of weight so such a (supopsedly) small and sporty car. As for the looks, I seem to be the only one that likes it. That's fine with me, I don't mind : )
Why is the Pro5 and the Si being compared anyways? They really aren't that similar!
The Pro5 definately has the Si whooped in the looks department, but I still do like the looks of the Si. I've always liked hatchbacks (hence my fugly 323, hehehe).
Even though I like it, almost every honda owner I've seen on a board hates the new Si. That's kind of interesting.

Upon further inspection.... They car IS pretty ugly... I still like the interior though.... The car looks like a Honda Odessy (sp?) mini-me. Stick a sliding door on that sucka, and you've got a minivan for "small people"
