Before anyone on here tries to lecture me on driving fast and endangering others, I don't want to here it. So on to my story. I was going out to lunch with some friends today. It is our last day of high school. We were going down this four lane road and one of my friends has a 67 Mustang which has over 300 hp. We got up to about 105 mph and a Cadillac swerves into the left lane in front of me. I slammed on my brakes and skidded about 200 ft and almost lost it. My friends almost hit me because they were all going over a 100 mph and couldn't see anything because of the smoke. When we ate lunch it dawned on all of us how close we came to killing ourselves. What a close call.

Anybody have any close calls like this one?

Well, at least it was an "almost..."

Yeah, my cousin and I were horsing aorund with my uncle's Jeep one time and nearly rolled it. He was whipping the steering wheel back and forth to slide the rear end around on a gravel road, and we wound up jumping over a ditch, then drove along the side of the ditch at about a 30 degree angle. Luckily, he turned the wheel the right way to pull us up & out. All of this happened in about five seconds, at about 50mph. And we had the doors off! He was so scared he couldn't drive back, and when I started driving us home, I was shaking so badly I killed the engine twice just trying to get going. We hurried home and washed the Jeep, and didn't tell my uncle about it for 10 years.

 

What is odd is that I was not shaken at all after the close call. I went back to see the skid marks and they are so thick. My mom asked me if I saw them and I just said yeah. There were 4 of us involved all going over 100 mph, and when we got to Ruby Tuesday we couldn't do anything but laught about it. Probably because we almost became "those guys who die right before graduation"
